agreed.....also there will come a point in time where all broadcasts will be mpeg-4, which only HD recievers can get as of now......

at that point the mpeg-2 recievers (SD) will most likely become useless and extinct.....how soon that will happen is anybodys guess.....

but in reality if your upgrading your reciever it makes sense to buy an mpeg-4 reciever even if you dont currently have an HD tv......
