I agree with basscat. Looks like you may have a short in your cables. Swap out the cable between the LNB and the receiver and see if there is any difference.

At your friends house, did you use your cable or your friends? If you just took your box and hooked it to your friends setup and it did not work, then there is something wrong either with your box or your setup. Check LNB setup to make sure your LNB type is correct.

Match your installation setup exactly as your friends and use his setup to see if your works, if you have not tried this already.
