Thumbs up CS4000pro, A rvw for an antique

1) I paid next to nothing. Less than $20 per unit for 2 4000s, including shipping.
2) I used the latest loader (2.6) & bin both available right here on ABA.
3) All I did was connect the thru (not null) cable up between the cs & PC, plug in the cs to 120v wall outlet, turn the CS on, open up the loader & hit auto detect. Comport 1 showed up. Then all that was needed was to DL the last bin. (The auto detect feature is great. I did not have to go to "my computer" to search for the comport1 to activate.)
4) I scanned 110 & 119. My troubles here are explained in the CS4000 discussion forum. After some trial-&-error, I found that using the autoscan function with the network scan OFF worked best for me.

It is now running smooth for PPV, porn & sub channels.

I don't have a handle on the EPG for this yet. It doesn't like scrolling thru more the 5 or 6 channels before 'freezing' & making you exit to a program before proceeding.

The channel switching is, on occasion, pretty slow.

Sat scanning is slow in the 'network' mode + autoscan but pretty fast in the autoscan w/o network mode & in the blind scan mode.

The picture quality is about the same as the NF Nova. It's pretty close to our DN sub stb (SD of course). I cannot compare right now to my Neo iPro because it's been down for a while.

Overall, I'm happy. It's up (at least temporarily) & I have another BU unit for my nFusion & Neo units. I wish I would have tried this over the last 3-4 weeks instead of being frustrated trying to get my Neo into the game.
