NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
Hey everyone, I know there's a lot of posts out there like this one, but we have a few more specific questions
We live out of the country where FTA is our ONLY source of american TV, so we waited till N3 to buy a new box (We were running a CW 800s) Now that it's here and we've been out of TV for a while (living off of the fox.com shows )
We were wondering, what's the better box for the long-ish term - the Nfusion or the SV?We'll probably change again later) We know it'd be better to wait, but unfortunatly we're getting tired of ION TV which starts programming at 4pm LOL. We've been researching all morning and can't make up our minds.
We are pointing at 119 only with a 4ft dish. If you can also tell us why you prefer either receiver that'd be great! Also heard of a little bit of freezing on both of these boxes, true or false? And which would be easier to set up using only a laptop (we don't have a desktop) Thanks in advance for your advice!

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
If you have no problem using IKS 24/7 for the rest of the box's life, then I suggest going with NFusion.
If you like using cardless, then get Sonicview. They have great coders.
As for channel lineups, both boxes will have the same chans up sooner or later. Right now, I believe SV have the edge. Freezing is gone from SV, not sure about NF but seems to work fine I heard.

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
Thank you for your advice! We don't mind using IKS, but the internet connection here is about the same as in the states 5 years ago.....very unstable. I guess in this case the SV is the better choice? Another question if you don't mind, is the Ihub compatible with vista, and can we do everything on a laptop like we could with a desktop or does it not make a difference?? Thanks again.

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
sxmfl,
the other thing you might consider since you already have a 4 ft dish is to motorize your dish, buy a used coolsat 4k,5k or 6k and do true fta until you make a decision. Your dish is large enough to to a great job with ku band and is also large enough to handle strong cband signals. It's not all that difficult to install a motor. Bill-of-Oz has a great set of instructions here in the accessory section.

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
We would, but we are to far from the states. We get only one sat from our dish. I'm ready to buy, just want to make an informed purchase based on more experienced advice. We don't mind to change in box in a year or so, just something to hold us over for now. Trust me, I'd give my right arm to be able to PAY for TV. But that's not even a choice

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
sxmfl,
I do feel your pain. However, if you can "see" 119 and it is high in the sky in your location, there is good programming available for free AND you'll be able to watch something during the SV's down times. And if you're far away from the good-ol' USA, your selection of true fta might be better than ours!! And if you're bilingual you'd really be set.

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
Both have great receivers and you cannot go wrong with ether. Both have there benefits. I prefer the Sonicview. They have the best coders of any team. Before N3, they were the king of up time. The PVR function is easy to use and record. The Nfusion makes a solid receiver. I prefer the guide on this one. No dongle(ihub) to add on and seemed to have the least amount of freezing until the last Sonicview release. Also dont rule out KBox, They make a great receiver. Good Luck

I would give the Kbox brand a chance, they are the best out...and both models ( Hero's Plus Edition and Prodigy) offer a great picture...and like the sonicview model, it also has a stand alone bin file option when they are released.

Thanks, thats true, but was wondering, already I'm worried about the Ihub (Hearing lots of setup issues) and was wondering if the Khub was even more challenging....I'm running vista :/

Khub is quite easy to set, simple activation file load and then wait for it to kick in after a few seconds. Just a few quick changes in the options menu and your good to go. Sometimes people have issues with routers and firewalls, but you will have those with any Iks type system you use.

Re: NFusion Solaris Vs. Sonicview Elite W/ Ihub
Yup, I love KBOX too. They were very fast to get premiums up. They still rock with international channels and BEV are being added back as well (if you want that).
I recommend either KBOX or SV Elite if anybody asks I've always used IKS only as a backup in the N2 days so NFusion was never one of my favourite boxes.
Anyhow, if you buy a new box, make sure you buy from authorized and trusted seller so you won't get a clone.
