I'm ready to upgrade to HD. Which receiver should I get?
Not a lot of activity on the message boards, but I do see some good info from past posts. I saw a post discussing the NFusion HD vs the SonicView HD (I'm starting my own thread so I don't get flamed for hijacking). I would need to get a new dish and receiver. What is the preferred setup? Dish 1000.2/3/4 (What's the difference), HD receiver + iHub? Does the NFusion need an iHub? How often does it go down compared to the SonicView? Thanks!!!

Re: I'm ready to upgrade to HD. Which receiver should I get?
Wow, not even 5 seconds after I post I can't edit it?
I wanted to mention... quality & convenience is first, then price (meaning I won't get the SonicView 8000 because it's cheaper. If it has a better picture quality, user interface, quick support when it goes down, etc... then I make my decision). Thanks again!!!

You'll want to get yourself a dish 1000.2 and an nFusion HD unit (with the 8K card).
This setup will serve you very well.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any specific difference between the SonicView 8000 and the nFusion? it seems many people prefer the nFusion, but nobody really says why.
And just so I know (and maybe others who don't know), what does the 8K card do?

Re: I'm ready to upgrade to HD. Which receiver should I get?
I just noticed there is a Dish 1000.2 and Dish 1000+. I see the difference is the Dish 1000+ gets sat 118.7 & costs a little more than twice the price. What is sat 118.7 used for?

Without trying to change the direction of this thread (I'd still like to know about the nFusion and SonicView HD receivers), is there a place that has a channel list of the int'l channels on 118.7? I'm Iranian, and would like to have these channels (local channel 18 is really the only international channel I get).

Re: I'm ready to upgrade to HD. Which receiver should I get?
whiteblazer01 - You need to get the NFusion HD receiver as against the SV8000. The NF has proved beyond any doubt that it is far superior.
The Nfusion comes installed with the the Cat5 Network connection and does not need a Ihub. It is super easy to install unlike the SV8000.
I would not worry about getting 118.7. Get the 1000.2 for 119, 110, and 129 Satellites. 129 carries the HD channels.
You can get another 18" dish and set it up to pick up 61.5 which carries all the arabic channels. Quite simply go for the above and we will help you have them installed without a fuss.

Re: I'm ready to upgrade to HD. Which receiver should I get?
The SV8000HD is nice, sonicview is still fairly new to iks but they have many channels, all hbo's cin..starz, vod..too many to list, they come with a 2yr warranty, hd is nice viewing like all of them I would imagine, 8psk is for your hd channels. SV is ready when a fix for N3 comes out and until than they are constantly working on and making their iks better each week.

Keep in mind both nFusion hd and SV 8k has very limited HD channels at this point.

Nfusion, no its a nice unit especially with all the experience they have had perfecting it. Although SonicView has came along way in the few months they have been doing iks which deserves honorable mention considering they are one of the top contenders

I didn't know that, what are the limitations? Is there a list/guide I can see? or if it's easier to list what is included/excluded...
