what is a clone?how do i avoid a clone?are clones bad?
a clone = a knock off.a counterfeit
a cheaply made product.they copy the work of an established respected company right down and dirty so as to make it look just like the real genuine product!and even steal the name and stamp it to their product.most clones look so close like an authentic the novice can not tell the difference!even when they receive the product!
clones are illegal.
a rip off of the original.
these illegal clones hurt sales of the well respected companies.as these cheap imitations didn't work to establish themselfs, but leach off the hard work of the originals success.
clones forced the authentic companies to introduce a clone killer code.that when loaded will render the junk clone useless.a very smart move, and we can't blame them for doing so.
some coders remove this clone kill code to make what we know as "clone safe" bins/files
this does affect the clone owner however,as it takes more time to wait for clone safe bins.thus making support slow.
so its very very very wise,to study where to buy before ordering an fta receiver.
always look for an authorized dealer for the companies product your looking for.
many/most clones are sold on ebay.ebay is great for many products, but when it comes to fta receivers.your MUCH better off buying from a well respected online authorized dealer.
you can find authorized dealers on ebay however, and this is fine.just make sure they have a link logo that takes you to the companies homepage saying the dealer is authorized by them.
NEVER buy a clone knowingly,it does NOT matter if you save as much as $50 or more.
(most clones look so much like the original that they don't lower the price much, sometimes not at all!clones on average i would guess go for about $15-$20 less than an authentic)so clearly the slow support on waiting for clone safe bins is of course not worth it.
like a counterfeit dollar bill, you never legally own a clone and should be reported where/who you got it from,to the company.
