Plus, I failed to mention the 2007 Visionsat IV200 PVR Plus. It is made by Coolsat with a different brand name, has USB, and is essentially the same as a Coolsat 7000 PVR, and about $40 cheaper. It also has USB, did I mention that?

Re: VS Ultra or CW-800 PVR or Sonicview SV4000 or Coolsat 7000 PVR
I was ready to purchase the CW-800s, but then I read another review from another member and it seems that the time-shifting/PVR is a bit dodgy. Can anybody confirm this? I'd like a unit that can do instant replay while watching a game live. Can the CW-800s do that? SHould I get a visionsat IV200?

Re: VS Ultra or CW-800 PVR or Sonicview SV4000 or Coolsat 7000 PVR
Just purchased 2 Captiveworks CW-800s today. Thanks for everybody's feedbacks
Last question I have (for now), does support for older models ever stop? Will I have to replace the STB every few years? I'm just worried that my technology-challenged friend won't be able to do it himself when that time comes and I'm not around.
Thanks again.

generally support lasts longer than the receiver lasts..for example pansat 1500 or 2500...support lasted for these for about 3 years give or take after they stopped production...of course they will be outdated eventually and you may need to upgrade...but you wont have to worry about that any time soon..

Great to hear. 2-3 years sound great enough. Just hope we won't have to change the dish as well :P
