Re: need help on reciever
I doubt they are stb with DVR. Maybe you got confused with PVR...

Re: need help on reciever
they make good one tuner PVR's but if you want a true PVR-DVR where you can watch one channel while recording another check out the dual tuner receivers (example viewsat 7000). one tuner make it hard to watch one channel and record another channel when they are not on the same TP.

Re: need help on reciever
dvr-digital video recorder.
pvr-personal video recorder.
same thing.
heres a couple pvr systems i like:
cnx duo decent hardware and overall smooth runner.
cnx trio (same as duo but with another usb port and dedicated hardware to run divx and other formats, its a complete multi media player system)
GREAT file support.one of the best.
neosat ipro plus. top of the line hardware based pvr system.its popular for its iks support
but many lose focus on it also being a cardless based advanced pvr system as well.works great.and you don't have to use as iks if you don't want.just wait for files like the rest.
also decent cardless support.
cw 800. a very low cost but quite decent pvr system.when it was introduced, the pvr had problems.but seems to be all worked out and running just fine now as a good stable pvr system.
cw is very well known for top quality fast support as well.
