Please Help!!! Confused over buying?
Hey Everyone,
I want to ask you guys as I'm really stuck and confused about what to do??? I'm in a market to buy a new receiver and I have narrowed it down to 2 choices: to go either with CNX MINI or CW-800.....
My problem is this I have a HD 50" Samsung Plasma TV and want to buy a receiver that provides a good SD signal with a composite cable. I know people say CNX MINI has the better picture hands down??? But is it that much better than CW800??? I know plasma can certainly differentiate and magnify flaws in picture quality...
Second is that I know CW800 is going to add the IKS support by end of JUNE...that would mean better uptime for the satellite signal. My wife would appreciate less hassle having to deal with ECM every week?????
Having said that Please help me make a better choice to either go with better picture quality or more uptime???? If I go with CW800 am I going to lose significant picture quality enjoyment with my HD tv????

Re: Please Help!!! Confused over buying?
The CW800 will be a better choice (in my oppinion) However, to really appreciate the HD picture in your HDTV, you'll need a HD receiver.

Re: Please Help!!! Confused over buying?
I would defer from either of these and go with either Neosat Ipro2000 or Sonicview 8000. These two units have great picture quality. the Neosat is still working all the issues with there IKS, but, I believe this it is just a matter of time before they get this unit ironed out. The Sonicview 8000 is already a proven HD box and the support is at the top. I think when SV gets IKS, (and I think this will happen), the SV with IKS will be the best of all the STB's. This is just my thoughts and opinion, weigh your judgement and go from there...

Re: Please Help!!! Confused over buying?
neither of those fit that tv to be honest.
both have "ok" pic.
but there are far superior ones with better pic quality.
neosat ipro plus.is going to provide a far superior pic.this is certain.
also so is the captain 7100usb.
AND both are supported by iks.
i like cw and cnx both.but they for sure do not have as good pic quality as those.
i do hear however the cnx duo and trio have a superior tuner that provides a better pic over the mini.(im not impressed with the mini's pic at all tho it is still "ok")
the duo/trio may be a different story,
but the cw has the better pic over the mini.this i know for sure.
your not interested in an hd unit?
sonicview 8khd i hear is really sweet!

Yes arbor, I'm thinking about buying a HD receiver but I'm going to wait for the Sonicview 360 HD coming out later this summer. I was going to get the SV8000 but I rather wait for the new one if it's only matter of few months!!!

Re: Please Help!!! Confused over buying?
if your looking cnx, the duo has better pic, 7 day epg (dik), 30 timers you can preset pvr for about $30 US more than the mini
