Looking for a budget pvr reciever

AS of now.. id like to spend under 200$ closer to 150s..

I read all the recviews... and im down to

viewsat 7000 pvr - ebay $165
coolsat 7000 micro-pvr ebay $155? i forgot

and if its that much better and worth the extra price...
neosat ipro 2000 plus - ebay 195$ (i wont be using the IKS.. cause the ethernet wireless bridge is too expensive. at the moment)

---

First of all ... how much better is it to have an external usb HDD option for recording VS the internal in the viewsat?... are any of the normal usb drives good for being left on 24/7? i know most of these crash... and or get hot.

Does the extra memory and speed of the neosat make a noticible difference?...

Is the coolsat have a worse downtime compared to the viewsat and neosat?...

if it were you... what would you chose?...

if you would chose a differnt model... state that also

i would like to have a PVR support... and usb support.. (the viewsat doesnt.. i already know that... but it seems to be a really popular model thats why i included it)

its a more advanced pvr receiver yes.
if you have a big screen tv,your going to receive a higher quality picture.
smaller screens may not notice the difference to much, but yeah.it is more advanced and beefed up buddy.

i also suggest buying from site sponsors.
these units are VERY nice.top of the line quality.
not to knock the cw 800 either, they are sweet.but yeah, ipro is more unit.
although! many of the software features of the cw imho are better.
(load custom background/search by title with key pad/radio artist-title info and few other small things that make the cw nice with software)

I plan on using a 65inch Rear projection tv (4 years old) HD Ready...
are the other recievers gonna show up bad quality?...

and i have added the CW 800s to the list...
im not sure how extra days of EPG works out.... but the CW 800 only has 4... is that good or bad?

and how is the downtime/uptime on the CW/Neosat?... it was the reason what made me think hard about the viewsat... everyone told me that the viewsat has great uptime...

thats answers that question.your looking for the neosat ipro 2k buddy.
i don't think any other standard definition fta stb on the market can't touch her in pic quality.jack her up with a good set of component cables and you will be very pleased.
nah,im not saying the others are poor in pic quality.just the neo shines in this area buddy.

downtime? what downtime? lol
she didn't even go down last ecm buddy.not just iks,but i mean her file too.
pretty well all the popular stbs have good support.they are all very competitive in this case, which makes it great, cus you can focus more on features and hardware of the systems.

epg,the neo gets 8 days worth of epg for bev and dn both at same time.
(with hdd device plugged in) or 8 days epg for one or the other, can setup to your liking.she has all you need anyway lol.

viewsat guys will hopefully jump in here and let you know what they like about their pvr models.i dont have one,so i can't help ya compare them.
no worries tho.im sure they will jump in to help us out.

Re: Looking for a budget pvr reciever

don't get us wrong but if you want a pvr the viewsat is a great one but so is the neosat and there was a ecm yesterday and the ipro did not even go down and all others did .. but you are going to pay the same price abouts for the neosat as the viewsat pro the neosat has something called iks(internet keys sharing) if a ecm hits you can plug it into the internet and boom you are back up while all the others have to wait for a new bin ..

cw 800 i owned it and was not impressed but that is my opinion there are alot of people that love it ..

so my opinion is the neosat for the uptime and pvr alittle more cash 20-30 bucks but well worth it when ecms hit because you will almost always up either cardless ot iks

Re: Looking for a budget pvr reciever

I love my cw800, really good standard def picture. Some really cool software functions and up until a few weeks ago was usually 1st in file releases and a few ECMS it wasn't bothered, when other brands were.
