nFusion v Captain, other IKS Receivers
I'm looking for a reliable IKS STB or an STB with a Dongle. Really don't care about Hi Def .
I don't want to be sitting around waiting for a BIN download and I don't something that requires a Masters degree in EE.
Would be grateful for your recommendations.

The nfusion is the best at this time for IKS, it stays up regardless of the ecm. A couple of weeks ago the nfusion was down about 10 hours, but the last ecms it didnt miss a lick. The dongle iks is basically a card swap, and has not been perfected yet. You can find the nfusion for about 169.00 thats the cheapest it ever has been. The dongle is a seperate purchase and you will be out about 225.00 or more for a captain with dongle.

Re: nFusion v Captain, other IKS Receivers
1) Right now avoid Neosat.
2) The Captain sounds great & I strongly considered one. Deal killer for me: Their IKS system has not been around & there are apparently not that many testers using it, so there's little track record. After my total experience with Neo (really good hardware) & its spotty support record despite its promises an impending iks breakthrough, I decided not risk more money on 'promise'.
3) So I got a nFusion for my 2nd STB. The good: It's up, more channels than you can image, locals included. Picture is a slight (I mean very slight) cut below the Neo's.
The bad: If you didn't have experience installing hardware during the evil Windows 3.1 days, you may need assistance in getting your nFusion up. Though you can find the Cap+dongle combo for about $205 shipped, I felt more comfortable with $169 for the nFusion.

I couldnt agree more! If you have dsl (at&t) internet service, with their modem router, you wont have any problems setting up. I had mine going in about five minutes. I know these other receivers are going to be great with IKS someday, but I want good uninterrupted service NOW. I have the pro 2000, and I know it will probably be up and as good as nfusion someday. Your always hearing its a top of the line receiver a lot more receiver than nfusion. This may be true, BUT I want tv now, not in the future. When all the testing is over with the pro 2000, Ill get mine back out and use it.

Re: nFusion v Captain, other IKS Receivers
"i got tv now with my ipro"
For how long?
myz7 is looking for reliability. ipro is not reliable, period.
My viewing problems with ipro is NOT on my end:
My new nFuse operates rock solid along the IDENTICAL signal path! My subbed DN operates on the same path after changing switches on 110 & 119. And I mean the exact same wires, connections, everything!
So I will repeat AVOID Neosat until hiks is establisked & has some track record.
I'm sorry Arb. You are a very, very helpful superduper mod & you definitely are really good about getting people up & running with 6 or 7 brands of stbs + your work on 123W. But, at this time even an unattended implicit suggestion that the Neo is a viable option for myz7's needs is misleading.
