Nfusion HD/SV8000HD/VS9000HD HD receiver review
Not sure what to say in a review. But I will tell you what I think. I have had SV8000 and still have VS9000 and Nfusion HD. I had the SV and the VS hooked up to the same 55 inch big screen the VS looked better I sold the SV... Now I have the Nfusion hooked up to the same TV. I must say the Nfusion was easy to setup after I got it going. Now that I know what I'm doing kind of... The picture on the Nfusion is GREAT also the channel scans fast fast and changing channels really fast good munus easy to use and over I really like it. It gets 5 stars from me.
Also on a side note my VS9000 rocks I leave that thing on 24/7 and never even a glich.

So the Nfusion and Viewsonic are about equal picture wise?

Looks like we both lost all the rep we gained yesterday so I gave you a little boost.
Thanks for all the info on the Nfusion HD.

Re: Nfusion HD/SV8000HD/VS9000HD HD receiver review
i its important to note a few things.
surrealone used to have a sonicview hd8000 but it was back along.it was the older version 1.these did not have a built in fan like the newer sv hd version 2's have.
also back along, the older 8spk boards ran much hotter.combine all that heat, and your going to have problems that have been worked out since then.
and of course since then, there have been MANY upgrades and bug fixes.
your really getting very particular when you try and compare high definition.
the NUVENIO hd (many nickname it nfusion because of same 3rd party coders)
will be supported like the nova.IKS ONLY.
good bad or indifferent is up to you.but as long as you know you will need to be connected to the net for 3rd party support.
it just hit the market so it has a long ways to go before it can compete to the sonicview/viewsat hd models.
many claims thus far are random reboots/hd pix problems and other various bugs.(which is completely normal for brand new stbs in many cases when they first come out)
like all new units.you must wait for bugs to be fixed up.and its going to take awhile to match the features.
here are some reports iv found:
it needs to have all the features of the competition before I can use it full time. I need to schedule shows to record while I am gone, and while I don't expect it to be a TIVO or a REPLAY, I can certainly do this on a SV8000.
I am pleased with the FIRST release of this box, but I will quickly shut it down in favor of my SV8000, particularly when the all of the new fall season shows come out, so that I am able to schedule recordings from the guide.
If I missed this feature on the box, please tell me where it is. If the beta software of pvr will do and I can stream it to a PC, that would probably work too.
some more things it needs to dress up:
Moving channels around does not work, I would like my list a certain way.
Fix the fonts and/or layout in the guide. It's be nice to see the full show name in the guide itself (or most of the name at least) It just seems scrunched
SD channels should not stretch by default. You should have an option to keep them in their proper aspect ratio of 4:3.
needs Channel Data backup- this of course will lead to channel editing program.
Channel List "page up" prior to 1st channel- While in the channel list, If scrolling from say channel 2, you must use the "channel up" button before you can use the "page up" button when wanting to scroll from last channel. Example use is going from "local" channels and to scroll to national hd channels which are higher channel numbers.
One thing would like to see as well is a timer function as the Sonicview 8000HD has.
example is once guide is up highlight a program then press a button and brings up another screen that allows you to select event timer(reminder for a show) Event recording to start recording the show.
I know some people with a Sonicview 8000 will know what I am talking about.
What i would like to see is a search function for the guide and be able to program the channel for viewing or recording.
- Blind Scan, like the Nova this is a feature that is missing and much needed for us True-FTA'ers.
I think that it would be nice if the Nuvieno had an HD interface, I.E. the menus, etc... In HD quality. I do not know if it still does, but when I had a SonicView 8000 it had a HD interface. Also, as stated earlier, I agree that the box needs PVR capaiblities with the HDD, like pause, rewind, and timers.
HDMI working properly for my TV is a big request. Possibly adding an HDCP free mode will solve the issue.
I have timeshifting on my Ultra and I love it. Really hope to see it in the future
118.75 Anik3 is a DP sat (replaced 121. It is linear on freq 10.750). The glitch is that you cant get all the TP's unless you select DPLNBF. that's how it is on the nova...nothing else gets all the TP (not standard or universal). However when you select DPLNBF with the HD, absolutely everything 0's out (both signal and quality) like there isn't any code that supports that option. You have to select standard or universal and you only get a few TP's.
Please fix the DPLNBF setting on anik3 118.
recall the last five channels menu when you hit recall that will be handy.
streaming video from the ntwork.
Turn off the Blue LED would be my main thing. Right now it has no use. It's on all the time and is too bright. It's hard to read the display next to it with it so bright.
As others have said, this is a good start for a new box, but I am counting on this being as good as the current "best HD fta" box out there, which is most likely the SV8000.
I am shocked to find that with PVR storage attached (A USB drive) that scheduling of recordings is not available in the guide. Find program you want to record at future date, press yellow (or Fx button of your choice) button, option for just "change to this channel at this time" or "record this channel at this time)
Since I use this function all the time, I think I will be forced to run a parallel system and use my new nuvenio only during ecm time, at least until it has all the bells and whistles that I use all the time
A schedule in order to record different shows at a specific time will be nice...
record one channel and watch another channel on the same tp, like my sonicview does would be nice
and there are other things.
a brand new stb simply CANNOT be compared to the sv and vs hd models.its not a fair comparision.
this unit has a LONG LONG way to go before it can compete.this will takes many months.
imho.the sonicview hd8000 will remain the current HD KING,surpassed ONLY by the upcoming sonicview 360 HD dual tuner.

Re: Nfusion HD/SV8000HD/VS9000HD HD receiver review
First of all why are you all over me? and then you have no idea what SV I had it was V2 and it did have a fan. I think you are a little rude. If you would like to do your own review start you own thread. smarty pants

Re: Nfusion HD/SV8000HD/VS9000HD HD receiver review
raging thanks for the rep points. I'm not big on rep points. Also like I said in MY post this is just my point of view. I do not go into other peoples review attack them. We all have our own point of view. Just to be clear I liked the SV but IN MY POINT OF VIEW WITH MY EYES THE VS WAS BETTER and even better was the nfusion. it may have it's problems but for a right out of the box receiver it is good. no it is not a TIVO I own two TiVo's both S3 HD models that run about $800.00 but you get what you pay for. Thanks

Re: Nfusion HD/SV8000HD/VS9000HD HD receiver review
Also arbor I think it's great you have your own point of view. Maybe start your own review thread. I'm very new to FTA I have been doing this for about a year. My point of view is not as skilled as your or maybe bias. I'm just telling what I think and what I see with my own eyes. I did not read the specs for any of the receivers. I just tell it like I see it. Are you an SV dealer is that why you are such a fan? that was a joke get it???? fan V2 fan get it ???get it???? lol lets all group hug
