Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
With the way things are at the moment, I'd be leaning towards the Nfusion HD.
It doesn't come with the 8psk card, that's another $100.00 so that'll end up being a pricey unit (as all HD units are).

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
cape might want to look at VS MAX HD Also great uptime and great support.
I own a VS9000 HD and the picture on the nfusion HD is better not by much.
From what I understand the CW4000 is hard to setup if your not a linux guy. But read read read before you buy. And also keep in mind people are gonna say the receiver that they have is the best when they have not even tested the others. I have tested CW 600 CW800 also SV8000 HD and VS9000 HD also the nfusion nove and nfusion HD and the best picture best suport and best uptime is the Nfusion also the easyest to setup was the nfusion I cant speak for other brands just what I have had my hands on

Do all of the HD receivers require an 8psk card upgrade?

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
why don't thr manufacturers just build them into the stb, or are there any on the horizon of coming out where we wont have to perform a upgrade?

These boxes are sold as free to air by the manufacturer which work perfect for what they are intended to do. Lots of fta programming out there. Selling with a 8psk module steps into a hornets nest of legal law suits. What you do to your box after you buy it, is now your decision. Adding 3rd party stuff is why we test. Its a hobby.

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
you have tested the nfusion HD? and what do you think the picture? and uptime? and easy setup. What about installing files in the CW4000? and setting it up is that easy?
I'm just asking about the cw becuse I dont have one. I think CW team has good support

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
i will help you with the cw4000HD it is a full media center computer with a dvb pci card in side it is called the skywalker .. it is fully ready for the dn HD channels if you buy the others you will have to buy the add on module for a extra 100 bucks approx .. but the thing that you have to remember is that the cw is a linux machine so if you are not a computer savy guy i would not recommend the cw 4000 but i would love to test it myself .. good luck

its hard to really tell which HD unit produces the best picture unless you can view them all side by side at the same time.....
nfusion is more user friendly than the CW but im pretty good with this stuff so it was simple for me but a beginner might have trouble......
CW have come a long way in the past year with both technology and support.....

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
I argree with bill and tomcat cw is a great brand I almost got the CW before my nfusion. I lots and lots of research and also the price and the fact I was and still in many a beginner. But uptime was what and price is what it came down to. CW is a full media center that is why you pay more but also keep in mind it is linux and a learing curve is in the works for you but I have not seen one nor have I tested one yet. Also depending on what sats you are watching N3 is in the works and the one with the most channels is NFUSION no one can dispute that fact.

yes that is true for the time being.....but it could be only temporary.....this should not be the reason to run out and buy an nfusion reciever right now.....anybody who does is....well.....crazy in my opinion.....we wont know anything until a TRUE nag3 crack comes along, or i should say if, and by which coders provide it.....
you have to think of things logically.....just for talk sake lets say that nfusion NEVER cracks nag3, and other brands do.....your nfusion would still be stuck with basic channels on BEV and others would have them all.....this is why buying ANY reciever right now is not a good idea, in my opinion anyway.....

Re: Nfusion HD or Captiveworks 4000HD
yes buying right now might be a bad idea but if you are looking for a receiver that will last well into the future then nfusion and come to think of it when it comes to files for receivers what can other receivers do thaat nfusion can't it got USB loading it's webbrowser loading and even auto update via the SUNS server from the internet. But we could go on forever. for the new members sake the choice is up to you just make sure you get all the facts and don't let anybody scare you with false rumors and made up lies that look like truth. Thank you bill for the good debait

well nfusion doesn't crack encryption at all anyway.
they don't provide standalone support.they only run iks.
its been this way for years.
the old nova could run the bluejay bins for cardless support, and they just used what those coders had and put it in their files too.
but as a rule, there is no devoted cardless coding team for nfusion.so if your waiting for this to happen it could many years again or never lol.
nfusion= iks only.-NEED to be connected to the net.
nfusion team doesn't crack encryption, nor claim too.they share it.
always been this way.some love it.some hate it.most don't care if they can watch tv,they're happy.
so its very likely, nfusion will NEVER hack n3.they don't work this way.
and bluejay/neusat lite/neosat ipro 1000 emu doesn't count in the sense that they did anything for cardless support in the past.same units.thats why they had emu for awhile.but that coder stopped and dropped out long ago when dn/bev started playing heavy.don't be fooled, they have no cardless team.(not at this time anyway.)
all of this.the whole nfusion "nova" aka -neosat ipro 1000 and its whole support is all publicly exposed and its easy to confirm the files/everything if you research.
there is no secret about it.
but it just plain works.and people love that.bottom line-tv almost all the time.nothing else on the market can or has matched its uptime over the years.
free tv'er's love 'em.(most people)
advanced "testers" could take or leave 'em,as there is not much hobby in it.ya just watch tv.
