Re: buying new reciever
You can use the dish for sure but whether you can use 3 receivers on that dish is where it gets tricky, it depends on what dish you have exactly, which will determine which method you would need to use to get all three working at once. The sonicview elite or premier are good choices or the captive works 700 or 800. It all depends on if you want to record things, which the 2 sv's and the 800 will do or record one watch any other like the sv elite will do or just for regular tv which the cw 700 will do.

Re: buying new reciever
Seems to ba a lot of new brand STB's hitting the market here lately. With Nag 3 approaching, seems that they know something that we don't. I know the HD STB's are expensive, but the way TV is evolving with HD, I would consider a HD unit. By now most everyone has a TV that is HD. But, the picture you get is not HD until you add the 8PSK module to some STB's. Look at the HD models, I am very partial to the Sonicview 8000 V2...

agreed.....also there will come a point in time where all broadcasts will be mpeg-4, which only HD recievers can get as of now......
at that point the mpeg-2 recievers (SD) will most likely become useless and extinct.....how soon that will happen is anybodys guess.....
but in reality if your upgrading your reciever it makes sense to buy an mpeg-4 reciever even if you dont currently have an HD tv......

Re: buying new reciever
I'm not sure if bill of oz statements about mpeg2/4 is correct. Some HD receivers are only mpeg2 compliant according to the specs - for instance the sonicview8000HD > Fully Complies with ATSC HDTV (VSB) & DVB-S MPEG 2
?

Re: buying new reciever
Just an additional comment - maybe it's when you add the 8psk card that your HD receiver becomes mpeg4 compliant? 8psk is not exactly equal to mpeg4 - they are two different things as I'm sure you may have read some other discussions about coding/formats.

Re: buying new reciever
Eventually all TV broadcasts will be in MPEG-4, but it will take some years. Maybe sooner in Direct or Dish. A HD receiver is a nice upgrade, but they can be quite expensive. I would reccomend the SV-8000 for HD and the SV-360 for standard. I am partial to Sonicview and Viewsat receivers. I know there is a New lineup from Nfusion and I am betting that it will be the first for the N3 crack. Good Luck.

Take a look at the Xfactor X1. It has great reviews & support.
It's an awsome unit and you can get it for $119.00 shipped from XXXXXXX
