Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
I've been reading through the threads trying to pick a HD box. I've narrowed it down between the Sonicview 8000HD and Nfusion HD. I currently have a Viewsat pro with the Dish 500 pro plus (110 and 119). Will I be able to get HD channels if I swap the VS pro for the SV8000HD or Nfusion HD? Also, I've read that the pvr on both those boxes only record live tv. Is this true?

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
this is a perfect example of thread placement.
this is the section to ask and compare between units to find out which one will fit your needs.
(received pm asking.thought a public answer was better)

Not sure what you meant by Live TV. This is just simple PVR, not like a TiVO. Of course you can only record what's on TV at that time. With a Dual-tuner receiver, you can watch one program while record another.
As for the original question, I would say go for the NFusion HD. Why? Because it's the only box that's also working on BEV. So you can find another dish and get BEV HD channels (quite a few).
Sonicview HD is a very good receiver though so if you don't like IKS, you can also get that
Oh, and yes, you can just swap out the receiver and get the HD channels on 110/119. There are more HD channels on other satellites as well.

I have the Sonicview and I think it is a great receiver. You will need a 8psk card to receive charlies HD channels. I do have to hand it to Nfusion great amount of up time and I think it will be the first with the N3 fix.

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
I'm also thinking of upgrading to a SV8000 HD with an A1 board. What channels do you lose/gain by having a Dish 500 vs a Dish 1000.2?
I prefer the SV8000 HD because I assume you can do software updates through USB, like with the SV360. Is this true? Does the Nfusion offer something similar, or is that via serial cable?

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
Will ppv channels be in HD with these receivers? What is the purpose of the 8psk card? Is it necessary for HD? In your opinion is worth it to switch my VS pro for the SV8000HD or Nfusion receiver? Thanks for your responses.

You can go to lyngsat to find a complete list of what's HD and what's not.

You will get HD channels with 110. There are is no HD with 119.
The Dish Pro Plus LNB for 110 and 119 has an LNB IN port that would accept an input of another dish with DP single or dual LNB pointed to a third satellite location without the need of additional switches or long cable runs.
I want to believe that both boxes enable pre-scheduled pvr recordings.

Dish 500 has 110 and 119 with a number of HD channels on 110 only. Dish 1000.2 has a third 129 location that is mostly HD.
Yes you the SV8000 HD can be update through the USB.

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
Aiye, maybe I misunderstood the "only record live TV" question. If you meant scheduled recordings, then yes you can set up the box to record a future program.

You will get the most HD on 129. You may want to get a dish 1000.2 antenna.

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
We've been thinking of buying an HD receiver, pansat 9200 actually, though i've been reading and i've seen some issues with the PVR. I don't have a big sat, I would say it's a normal size one. My question is.... is buying an HD worth the extra $? What HD receiver would be recommended? If we don't go with HD i was thinking of the 250sm pansat, I'm not stuck on the pansat, it's just what we have now, i'm running 2 sats, echo 7 and echo 8.1, on my 2700 now, I guess i just need someone to point me in the right direction of what is the best to buy, i for sure want a pvr with the dual band. Thanks in advance!

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
I suggest the SV on 110, 119, & 129, you can use a oval dish & 3 LNB holder for all 3 sats with a diseq switch. Also I have been up all year so far. I have been through quite a few receivers and this is the best way to go for HD. Nfusion needs an ethernet connectioin for IKS and is traceable, it will do USB too but I like the SV and have had great results.

Re: Sonicview 8000HD or Nfusion HD w/ Dish 500?
Go Nfusion. When DN goes active with Nag3 all other boxes will be boat anchors. Ask yourself which is the only box thatis pulling in Bev. DN has test channels all over and new cards shipping.
