Nfusion Solaris or SD?
I have been looking into these receivers and would like some input from owners of these units. I have a 8000HD so I am not looking for another HD unit. So is the SD worth the extra $40? Thanks.

Re: Nfusion Solaris or SD?
The one added feature you might like with the SD is the timer function with respect to the PVR feature. If you simply do not care about PVR then save your $. The tuner in the SD might be better than in the Nova or Solaris, and in that case, that's worth a few $$$, as is the higher LNB output 1000mA in place of the Nova 400mA.

I don't have the SD I have the HD but I am told they both have the upgraded tuner. As well the SD is supposed to have a faster processor and more memory. I would pay the extra money for the tuner alone. The HD has zero problems running on DP or DP PLUS LNBs. There have been many problems posted concerning the weak tuner in the Nova and the Solaris would inherit these problems. I have heard the SD also has a better picture. Not sure about that one but I can tell you that the SD picture on the HD unit is superior to the one on the Nova.
If it were my money I would go with the SD. Why they did not include USB PVR on this box I am still trying to figure out.

Re: Nfusion Solaris or SD?
I just picked up a solaris monday...and the tuner isn't bad at all...running 3 DP lnb's through a DP34 and getting same quality as my iPro2000+ and SV 8000 hd... the pvr not having a timer kind of sucks, but other than that, I am really liking this unit, I had the option of waiting a few days for the NuvenioSD but saved the money and can't complain one bit...also the ippvr is pretty cool, saves as a .mpeg to a folder of your choice on your pc. No time shift( pause, instant replay etc.) but great pic quality (surprisingly great) I'd been caught up in the IKS STB feud for awhile, so decided to try the other side of the fence, so I would have educated arguments, and I have to say, I'm happy I did...nice STB, even considering waiting a few months and picking up HD nuvenio...glad to have it in my line-up -Mook

Re: Nfusion Solaris or SD?
I assume you are looking at Nfusion for the IKS ability? No doubt they are the best at this right now. It will be interesting to see if Dr. T and the boys can sell there EKS solution to Neosat. I always thought that box had lots of unrealized potential. If they can make it work like an Nfusion then they will be real competition since they have a viable PVR. Alot of them will come back out of the closet if the EKS team can pull it off.

Exactly, I figured I would play the field. I dont want to put all my eggs in one basket. I looked at Neo last year when there iks/eks setup was supposed to be the best. Thanks again.

Last yeat they had Hiks not EKS. It didn't work worth **it. EKS is not affiliated with Neosat yet. It is done independantly and by the accounts of people that have seen it, it actually works. It could be made available to any IKS box that says they want it apparently but has already been tested on the Neosat.
