Best PVR to buy!
Hi,
I own a CW Ultima but I'm disappointed with the PVR functions. Also the video quality is a little bit jerky. I want to know your opinions on which FTA box has the greater video quality when it comes to PVR. Also I dont want to spent more than $225.00, but I can go the extra miles if neccesary.
I was looking the VS S360 elite but I also saw in some reviews that the video quality is a bit jerky.
I have setup 110/119 dont have any on the 82 so HD is not a concern.
Thanks guys for all your help.

Re: Best PVR to buy!
I have Sonicview360P, CW800, Neosatip2000, Nfusion HD and Nova and CNX mini and Duo. Trust me on this one. If PVR is one of your main concerns, none of the other boxes even touches the CNX DUO. Great picture, Best playback functions by far. You will especially like the 30sec forward 7sec back function. Flies through ads.
I use mostly the Nfusion HD now due to the HD picture but I miss the PVR functionality of the DUO. It rocks.
P.S. Don't cheap out and get the CNX Mini. Although it is a nice little box it has a few problems with PVR that the Duo does not have. By the way CNX also has great support.

Re: Best PVR to buy!
Glad you joined us. Our members are great at giving first hand advice. I enjoy the Sonicview boxes. The PVR function is great on all three I have. I am testing the SV-360 Premier, Elite and the 8000HD unit. Don't just weigh the STB's by the PVR. Look at the support for the STB's too...

Re: Best PVR to buy!
Thanks guys ... I'm overwhelm with all the responses i got. Have to think about it for a few days to see which one I will buy!
Never heard of the CNX here in Puerto Rico, is the support any good? Do they go down easyly? The CNX is not dual PVR right?

Re: Best PVR to buy!
If you want my advise, keep your money in the Bank till the N# problem is solved. Once we know the outcome, go right ahead and buy which ever receiver you like.
Until then, be satisfied with the CW Ultima. Its not like you have no TV for now.
BANK IT.

cnx duo= single tuner pvr.
cnx trio= signle tuner pvr./devoted hardware for DIVX/XVID(and other formats)playback.
sonicview 360 premier= single tuner pvr.
sonicview 360 Elite= true dual tuner pvr.(complete dish pro plus technology supported) one line with dpp separator/dpp lnb can feed both tuners.
two hard drives can simultaneously record two channels at the same time.watch and record anything at same time when single recording.
only limited to same tp while in dual record mode.
captiveworks ultima= the advantage your ultima has over these is it records directly into mpeg2 format.unlike the others that require actual file converting to burn to dvd format.where the ultima can simply be burnt for dvd players that support mpeg,or simply authored first.
the cw line however is a lower end line as with cnx.(these units unlike sonicview for example-either good, bad or indifferent is up to you,are made in China vrs Korea of that of the Sonicview line-upper quality line of stbs.)ah yes, their likely is a reason for the lower price tags.you have been informed.

VGiddy's right!! Stuff your money in your mattress for now untill N3 is solved!!
PS. I love my 800s but the pvr does suck! Cant expect it to work well when the guide doesnt fill in. Does your ultima do this too?

Re: Best PVR to buy!
I'm testing the Sonicview 360prem and probably record at least 2 hours a day on it preparing for the blackout!!! Yes the SV 360 prem. is only a single tuner but i don't mind watching a great movie or program more than once...

Re: Best PVR to buy!
CNX has great support. They are not as fast as Sonicview releasing files however there files stay up through many ECMs often. As a result they are up more often then Sonicview which everyone says has such great support. I own both the Duo and the Sonicview 360Premier and if I had to sell one it would be the Sonicview.
The Duo in my opinion has a better picture, better support and the PVR functions are unmatched if you read up on it and know how to access them. There are at least 3 different ways to access FF and RW for example and they all operate slightly differently and have different uses.
If you want 2 tuners however CNX does not have a box for this. Sonicview 360 elite would be the box for this.
