Re: Best HD Receiver??
There are a few good bxs on the market, however in my opinion just wait until Nag3 is defeated. On the safe side the wait could be the best.We have sponsers that offer HD bxs and also you will be helping support the the site.Have a great day!Just my opinion!

not even iks based units can say that!
not even the almighty nfusion iks king!
(yeah ok of course besides bev tehetehe)
but pretty impressive when you can compare uptime hours with iks based units.

good points.keep em coming.
here's some about the sv 8k:
sonicview hd8000 has a good "blind scan" feature not found with the nfusion hd model.
so that means if you have a motor.your going to find MANY more channels and wild feeds that the nfusion hd unit won't even know are there.
many wild feeds are premium events.and many are clean feeds, meaning no commercials.your going to miss them with the nfusion hd unit,as it has to way to search for them.(the active tps always change for these.this why blind scan is so important)
all these will be unaffected by N3.and the sv 8k will still be working great.
there are also no audio/video sync issues when recording/playing back HD via the hdd like reported with nfusion hd unit.
paying allot for HD + DVR.you don't want these issues when trying to enjoy it.

Re: Best HD Receiver??
I hope it is ok to jump in here I am looking to get another FTA for my wife so she can watch her Soaps at night. I have the Viewsat 9000HD with 8psk. I am aimed at 110, 119, 61.5 and 129. I would like to get an HD model but I could live with a SD box.
Will these boxes mentioned above and my Viewsonic 9000HD still be usable after Nag3? Or will it likely take a 8psk type upgrade? When is the Nag3 supposed to happen?
Thank you

As suggested in post #2, you might want to wait for a bit longer to see how things go on N3. At this point, no one knows for sure if SV team can crack N3. We have lost all the XXX channels a few days back, tho others channels are still good. Just to give you an idea that things can get worse.

So if you guys were just starting out with absolutely no hardware, what would you get? I have a 1000.2 and $350 for a receiver?
