hi ya'll been here over a year, first time saying hi !! was testing with vs ultra, but broke down for a dreambox 500s due to hockey needs. seems to take a long time between channel picks and should there be a monthly fee? i'm in the nimiq area, not very happy. was this a good buy?

hi jc, sorry i posted while still in the download section. i downloaded all the dreambox utillities and my question is should i have a monthly fee, or can i wipe it out and reprogram my box and get sat for free. i was told my system is ics (card sharing) not iks (key sharing) and that is why there is a fee. i have not heard of anybody paying a fee using nfusion, kbox, or any other net based sat system running. researching this a little, i've learned by using a gemini image or one for n. america sats, i could add bev, just running dnet right now. if you could share any info, or point me in the right direction, i would greatly appreciate it. eg. dreambox for dummies!!

I am no Dreambox expert. But right now there is not way to get D*ish or Bev with out some form of card sharing. IKS or ICS. It sound like you are paying a fee to access a private card sharing network. There no standlone N3 solution yet. If you feel the cost is too high, you could go with a IKS FTA box and set aside the Dreambox if you wnated to. Paying a fee to access a private card share is not unusual.

bat01 has you covered here Buddy. If you have DSL and a STB that has IKS capabilities, there is no fee. But, if you are card sharing with a group of people, this is very common. Nfusion STB's with a DSL internet connection is doing very well at this time, and there is no monthly fee...

thanks guys, for all the help!! living in the 91w area my sat guy will not add bev. NO NO NO. so the card share is not the way to go. i should of bought an nfusion, or other with iks. that way i would pick bev. and dnet and what ever else the unit can scan with no $cost$. live and learn, still happy with all i get, units a little slow at times, heres hoping on 0ct. 22 !!! go vs team!!
