Looks like a pretty good combo...fair price too

But then I seen like 4 other models that I liked(captive, viewsat, etc)
Is the package I listed overpriced and does it have EVERYTHING I need or will I be having to order additional stuff off the internet to get this project goin? that has pretty much everything.

All I want to do is watch UFC in HD, get HDNET, and maybe a few HD movie channels and I would be happy. Recording capabilities would be nice too. Would I be able to EASILY set all that up with the sv8000HD or should I get something else? you can get those channels with the sonicview. other receivers have pvr capabilities. you'll need to decide which one you want.

Last, and most newish question... I've heard that alot of these receivers can only be used for like a year then they stop working and u have to buy a new one...Any truth to this? I thought you could just keep upgrading the software and it will work.
Not true. they will work until it breaks. you'll want to upgrade to a vip membership so you can download the latest files.
Not a bad deal you got there.
