Most PCs will detect & scan for ports automatically once it communicates with the receiver.
So I think your not communicating...which means either the unit is not powered up or the cable is not connected / damaged or you are using the wrong type cable.
Both null & straight type RS-232 Serial Data Cables look the same...but only one will work.
The CS6000 uses the "Straight" type.
If you are using the one that came with the receiver (when new) it will be the correct one.
