can Dreambox run under Linux?

I can't speak as an expert on this yet, because, my new receiver is still in transit. But, I'm disturbed, for a lack of information, reguarding the Dreambox receiver series.
It's interest to see, or, I may have missed it, so, please correct me. But, here's a unit that's created with an embeded Linux OS at it's core, and yet there's little or no mention, of running it from a Linux based computer system.
Apparently the support software is writen in windows format. Is there anyone with the knowhow, willing to share what Linux equivalents, will work with the Dreambox series.

go at dbfn site. I have spoken to a few in there whom are fluent in linux and uses it daily.

The only thing I've seen that was windows, was the channel editor, and that could run in wine. The box can update through ftp or by copying the new image to the temp directory. What exactly do you mean by "running it from a linux based computer"? The dreambox is a linux based computer.

I bought a Dreambox 7020s after 2 days of trying, i put it in the closet ,hope you have better luck I think I am putting ebay

Just curious, what happened? Was it lack of support? Difficult to setup? Something wrong with the box?

Don't give up so easy, try try again. Most STB's are set up in under an hour, just like Windows based DVB card programs. MythTV can take a week or so to figure out. Apparently the Linux based STB may have a simular learning curve. But, as an example MtyhTV has a lot more functions and features that can be tuned and tweeked to make it a full multimedia center.

Been using dreamboxes for years now, ;like the dm500s, 7000s, 7020s. 7025s, and also the cable series , dm500c so on so forth

Yes you can sure see I know alot about thr Dreambox it is a 7020s.how long have you owned you dreambox and how often are they down. I will change my post .
