Dreambox 500c help pls

Hello I am trying to update my dreambox manually, however, when i go into the Tuxbox Commander I am unable to select / highlight any of the command lines. What should I do?

Try rebooting it and then retry...

I was trying to find you a new bin. Dreambox hasn't released anything this year. They do not have good support. Even fixing your current problem, new keys will not open channels. It will require a new bin. Not trying to make you mad, but I would start looking at a newer STB with great support...

Scroll to the file you want to edit and select it with the 4 button on the remote to enter edit mode.

Thanks but where are they? I have looked in the keys section but I need to find the 00 and 01 lines

The 86 line is your 00
The 96 line is your 01

How to manually change keys on Dreambox 500

Open up DreamBox Control Center, select FTP, then on left hand side of display, double
click on var, then double click on keys, then right click on keylist, and select Edit.

Go to the lines which looks like this:

N 0101 01 BXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ; Key update: 1409-
2005
N 0001 01 BXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ; Key update: 1409-
2005

where BXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is the old key number,

and change it to look like this:

N 0101 00 FXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ; Key update: 07-112005
N 0001 01 FXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ; Key update: 07-112005


where FXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is the new key number.
Note that the first line also changes from N 0101 01 to N0101 00

Then select File, then select Save and Exit, then exit out of DCC.

Some people say you have to reboot, but within five seconds after I made this change, I
had video and audio back.

New Keys for the week of March 14th, 2008: Changing 00 6F 06 76 D5 0D 6A 81 1B.
My problem is that I need the 01 keys or do I have to wait until they change?

if you also have the 500C its not for satellite correct?
im just starting to read up on dreambox so bear with me.but as far as i understand it,all dreambox units ending with a C are for cable not satellite.
do you know this to be the case?
in which case then why would nagra2 keys be any benefit to you?
i just assumed you must have a 500S or a 500 plus since you where asking for keys.my bad,sorry about that.

unfortunately iv not read up on what you can even do with the C models yet lol
share all info you have found with a C model if you don't mind.like what can you do with it? unscrambled cable i assume?
have you successfully watched cable with it before?

LOL Hypothetically speaking yesit can scrmble cable.
Yes I was successfully watching but they scrambled the keys twice in the space of about threee days so I lost both the 01 and 00 keys. I now have the 00 but I have to wait until it is scrambled again to get the 01's. I believe there is a way that it can be programmed to automatically key in the new numbers though I have yet to find out whther it is a chip or a card.
Here in Barbados the dream boxes are generally scrambled weekly or in the middle of an important soccer match or cricket match................and usually on Friday night late when no-one is near the internet!! They work really well otherwise and can pick up all available cable channels in the area
