Reviewing the K-Box K1 Plus

Well I just received my K-Box K1 Plus today from Transat Electronics. This thing is so light I didn't even think anything was in the box. After setting up I went ahead and loaded latest factory file and the latest bin fix wth usb stick(USB port is in front with a flip down cover and can also be used for a MP3 Player and a JPEG Viewer). Then did an auto scan for my satellites which only took a few minutes. By the way this stb is great for detecting your birds. Set my locals, checked to make sort by sid was on and also set autoroll on for standalone mode. Exited out and set it to channel 200 so keys could roll and in less than 5 minutes I was watching TV. Picture is excellent. So far so good with this stb. Very user friendly.

OK, so much for stand alone its time to test the iks. Coming with the receiver is the Ihub and two serial cables, one black and one white. What I did was turn receiver off from back switch, plug in power supply to the ihub and run the black null cable from ihub to my PC. After downloading the the activation file and loader I connected my ethernet cable from my router to the ihub. When I opened the loader the instructions were there to load the rom file into the ihub. Once I had done that successfully I just disconnected the black null cable from ihub and ran white serial cable from ihub to the serial port in back of the receiver. Powered back on and set the mode to network and turned autoroll off. On the ihub the red light on top was red and green light beside ethernet port is green and my network settings were showing connected. This is an easy setup...took only about 15 minutes.

I highly recommend this receiver to anyone wanting to ugrade whether it be standalone or iks for it would be a good receiver to have in your stable. Support has been very good as of late also. Easy to use and the menu is very self explanatory. Remote is lightweight and fast on channel changes. I've still got some other satellites to scan so this was just a start but I did want to thank Transat Electronics for their service and support. BTW it was shipped here in about 3 days. I look forward to continue playing with this new toy and the more I learn about it I'll let ya know.
