A judgement for monetary damages usually can only be enforced if the defendant has liquid assets that can be found. If the defendant has no assets that the old saying applies "you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip".I'm not sure about the changes in the bankrupcy laws but it used to be that one could include any judgements against them in a bankrupcy action with the exception of a judgement for personal fraud. Those who participate in activities that might elicit legal action from corporate giants who have there own legal staff should protect themselves financially. It is difficult to enforce a monetary judgement against a pauper.
