FTA and CABLE TV...switch conflict???
Hey all,
I looking for some help in order to make my TVs work with FTA and cable without having to switch wires connections manually. With N3 in place blocking most part of the channels, I ended up having to go back to the billing period on a major cable company but still would like to keep using the FTA receivers to enjoy some ppview while still last. Problem is, every time I want to switch between cable and satellite, I need to manually switch wires connections in order to get signal properly. I used to have 2 wires running to my house, one with cable signal for the internet going to a modem and the other with satellite signal from the antennas to my TVs receivers (1 SV-8000 and 1 VS-MAX HD). Since I signed up for TV with cable as well, I put a 2-way splitter under the roof (1 in - 2 out; 5-900mhz), to send the signal from the cable co. to my modem and tvs receivers. Thing is, I was hopping to be able to use a switch (2 in - 2 out)that could carry the signal from the satellite OR from the cable to the receivers and just choose the inputs (HDMI or component) depending on witch receiver I would like to use, but it seems I'm having a problem with the switch not powering up properly cuz the only way to make things work is keeping the wires separate. Does anyone know if I need a different kind of switch to make it work and what kind would that be????
Any help is appreciated.
