Longer answer.....
Sounds like he is getting his internet connection via a wireless radio. Since most computers thse days have an ethernet (nic = network interface card) connection, another device can be plugged into the nic. Then set up ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) so that the 'puter effectivly becomes a router.
