I believe you can get the box or boxes 1 dish w lnb(s) up to so many feed of cable for free along with your sub - I think you can tell them that you want the equipment but will install it yourself - then just bring it down or ship it to your address in Mexico (I'm sure you are aware that if you ship it - there are chances that it will be 2010 before it's delivered).
Reply,
Thanks for the info. The main difference i see between your situation and mine is the distance south of the border. You are 5o miles and I am 400 miles but then if you are using an 18" dish and I am using a 36" dish, ...that should make up for the difference in distance.
I would not be buying anything from Dish in Mexico. I would be buying direct from Dish in the U.S. and either telling themm what I intend to do, or NOT telling them and just do it anyway.
This brings up the question ....when you initiually aim your dish and log on to activate your account, do you have to do this by phone or can it be done over the Internet. If you have to use the phone then I would have to do it the States which brings up the next question..... will they let me select the satellite which will work best in Mexico or will I be stuck with whatever they allocate to me ?
If I am stuck with a satellite that only has coverage for the U.S., how would I change to a satellite that gives coverage in Mexico. I would probably be doing this change from Mexico and without being able to do it over the Internet, it would be difficult to keep a good connection using Skype on my computer ..... I have no phone in Mexico

Any more thoughts
