Re: Best FTA Box

It's not a clone issue, it's an IKS security issue with the Nova boxes, which were not made by Nfusion but by another STB maker. Nfusion bought those boxes, put their name on them and made them work with IKS a few years ago.

Nfusion eventually made their own boxes such as the Solaris, Phoenix and the HD with the upgraded security chip.

You can upgrade your Nova for $80.00 or spend 3x that for a new SD box + "Dongle" or "Hub"

There really isn't much difference then others charging $80-$100 for a "Dongle" or "Hub" to make their box work and work securely with an IKS type connection then there is adding an upgraded ethernet port to your Nova.

Nfusion is basically requiring Nova owners to do the same, although nothing official yet if they will or will not continue to support the Nova.

There are a lot of STB owners out there who don't have the option of spending a mere $80.00 to make their box compatible work, so I guess it all depends how you look at things.

Again, no official word from the coders if they've been able to resolve the issue with the Nova and as far as I know, it still gets many B3V channels.

No box is supported forever and having to buy a new STB every couple of years or so is to be expected as the technology and encryption methods change.

If a standalone fix for N3 ever comes out, it will likely take some fast hardware to make it work.

The future of MPEG2/SD boxes is somewhat limited anyways.

I would wait for official word from the coders and if you have to spend $80.00 to make your Nova work with N3, then that's the way it goes.

It certainly is a better option then spending 3x as much for another box + dongle/hub.
