Hello all ~ this is my first post here. I am researching the purchase of an HD FTA receiver, dish ...etc., and could really use some input from those "in the know". For the sake of this discussion, please assume money is not an issue ~ I want and can afford a good system.
Let me start with what I would like to have:
- HD / HDMI Output (must have)
- PVR (must have)
- Ethernet port for fast upgrades (must have)
- Dual Tuner (would like)
Feel free to correct my use of incorrect terms here (total noob ~ but highly technical):
Nag3 ~ I understand
some channels are up and running on IKS receivers, but Nag3 has really put a cramp in FTA. Is "now" the right time to buy a receiver, or
is it better to wait a month or two ... or three ... ... ???
Receivers (Q1) ~ I often record two shows at once. Are there any HD receivers with dual tuners? I cannot find any. If so ... would you recommend these receivers?
Receivers (Q2) ~ I've been looking at Viewsat, Sonicview, NFusion and a few others. Really, what is the best box out there? Is there any hope for Nag3 with these boxes in the future?
Antenna/Dish ~ Motorized vs. Multi-LMB? Advantages/disadvantages? As I've not owned an FTA setup before, I don't know which way to go on this.
COAX ~ I have to put my dish about 100 cable-feet away from the receiver as I live in a wooded area. Would I need any kind of inline amp or repeater on the coax? Should I be using quad-shielded coax? Any recommendations on the best place to purchase coax online?
Finally, what other items should I be considering?
Thanks in advance!!
