SG2100 torture!
No problems finding 123 after everybody joined in to help me. Now I am stumbiling on another problem.
I am using a ChannelMaster 35.5 X 25" eleptical dish. The mounting pole is as level in all directions as I can get it. So far, everything is ok but at this particular point nothing is done. I also set the lat/lon for the dish's location.
Problem description:
I aimed the dish as closely to south as I could and then ran the motor to point at 123. It didn't. But twisting the dish I am able to get 123............but nothing else. Next, before moving off 123 the stb questions if I want to save the results but I am not sure what results are saved. For example, I select another satellite just to move the dish and then go back to 123. The motor drives the dish beyond 123, not much but enough to get all an all red signal line. Yes, I can manually reposition the dish using the motor controls so I can again receive 123. I expected the so called "save" to bring the dish back to where it was when I "saved" the location. Note, I even reset the SG2100's motor manually and yes, the lights did flash.
Next, I checked the skew using Satcalculator, it states the lnb skew should be 41.6 for my location. Yes, skew occures when the the dish moves using an SG2100 but it surely does not get to 41 anything. Should I adjust the lnb skew before I do any targeting for satellites?
One final, because my dish is eliptical, should I consider junking the thing and get a round dish capable of skewing?
Tree (never looking forward to being stumped!)
