I did not know where to place this thread since there are not any Dave forums. Please feel free to move it mods wherever you want.

A friend of mine just got a set up with dave from a installer. I dont know exactly what was done, as the box & card was already programmed. It seems to be running on a activation script, but do not know for sure.

The packaged for 1 room included a DTV HD dish installed, along with a DTV HD DVR receiver for $200.

He is getting all the basic channels except for out of town locals, PPV'S and Cinamax. He is also getting all the HBO's, Showtime's, Movie channel's, Encore's & Starz's. He has not tried to get PPV yet, as he is in fear of trying to order it via the remote. He does get the message that says to purchase press OK. He has no phone line hooked up, so to me it would not hurt to try. The guy also told him it will have the NFL package too whe football season starts.

He didnt have to sign anything and the guy didnt even ask his last name. He told him to not hook up the phone line, which I already knew would not be a good idea. He got the number from a friend that got hooked up with this guy, as he installed 2 rooms for him with HD DVR FOR $250.

What do you guys think about this and what do you think is going on here?

Could the receivers be modified to do this with or without the cards being hacked?

P.S. By the way I did see this all myself, so I can verify it to be true.
