Re: Equipment questions
Thank you everyone. The information and welcome is greatly appreciated.
I bought the system used and it had been running up until May 09. The feedhorn, lnb's and actuator were purchased new last summer. The recievers purchased within the last 6 mo. It was only $200 and I though it was a pretty good price.
Bill, thank you for the info it helped me understand more. And this is where I got confused. On the Motorola, while searching to see if the dish was aligned to the arc or not... I could only get in 2 'stations' in 2 separate directions. I tried to find out if I was even on a satellite. My dc light on the receiver never came on, which according to the manual meant I was not locked into a satellite.
The Pansat when I did a blind search came up with all these channels. And after reading your post I found the drop down menu, G19 was not the only one on the list. There are 22 others. EchoStar, AMC, etc. And I did not understand how I was receiving all these channels if the Motorola was only receiving two.
When the dish was finally up on the roof of the garage (about 35' up), I tried to 'tune' in the dish to the arc the best I could--which apparently was not good enough. (I have called every satellite company between here and Portland and can not find anyone that 'tunes' these dishes in.) So, I am on my own with this. When I got the dish, I did not change anything.
I am more of an engineering type person, not technology savvy. With some help from some friends I welded a stand on and through the garage roof that you could launch a rocket from. But, I am having difficulty understanding the technical part of the receivers....
Again, thank you for the help and the information on the forums....
