Skip the wifi, this works, other dishes will work just as well for this application.
Modification will depend on the Primestar dish you have. Some had a LNB you could remove and expose a saddle. The other type had a more permanent fixture.
All Primestar dishes with original LNB’s was a Linear LNB.
Problem with these LNB's is that the horizontal queue had to have a maintained voltage. In most STB’s or receiver request this is not common. Work a rounds can be attained.
So this brings us back to the dish.
I have successfully used the removable LNB type for circular and soon will try heavy linear LNB testing.
In the past I have added lateral rods to give me options for multiple LNB reception. A lot of work was involved with this application.
At present time I will be motorizing this dish with a combo LNB, this LNB will provide circular or linear reception.
Will update later when the Primestar has the motor attached. Deterrent for many will be the Primestar post mount diameter, very rugged.
