questions regarding pansat 9000hd?

ok im not sure who can answer questions for me regarding the pansat 9000 hd but here goes ? #1 when i hook my pansat up to my input on my sony receiver or sony tv thru hdmi cable (out from pansat and in to either receiver or directly to tv) the tv nor the receiver detects the pansat .... i can hook it up thru audio/video cables and everything works fine .... im sure the hdmi cable is good cause i tried it on a different device and it works fine ... im starting to think that my hdmi output on my pansat box is bad and / or it doesnt truly work .. i think us pansat 9000 owners originally were scammed into thinking this was a true hd box when in reality its not ...#2 i don't think by buying the 8psk module board can be installed into the 9000 ? and furthermore i dont see these boxes for sale anywhere not even on ebay so whats the deal with that ... ? hmm just wondering why ?

1st off you may want to try another hdmi cable, I use a Pan-9000 an it works fine on hdmi.

an no owners where scammed, the Pan-9000 does just the way it is listed in their manual, an is 1 great receiver. I have use 1 for years now an it is my best HD receiver to use out of all 4 different HD receivers that I use, my 2nd best receiver is SV8000, an the Pan is a far better unite than it by far, but no pvr that is why like SV 2nd. but all of my receivers here I use them all with factory firm ware (No Hacking). an have the pan tune up on a altantic c-band sat right now, with a HD ufc fight that is going to start in a few minutes.

an if you don't like that Pan-9000 send it this way an will give it a new happy home.

pretty hard to beat them pansats with a C band BUD hey.
dvb-s2 support to boot.
still no blind scan at all,not sure id call it my favorite-nor better than sv 8k due to this alone.
dvb-s2 out of the box may be good.but your going to need two receivers.one for blind scanning still.

a 9200 with dvb-s2 board has to be better no?

for 3rd party support the pansats are extremely basic.
if your looking for an hd unit with smaller dishes,take a look at the sv 8k.
there is no comparison if looking at 3rd party files alone.
these are discontinued.that's why you no longer see them for sale,at least not regularly from anyone.
and no,you cannot add on anything to receive dn hd programming with the 9k model.

Yes no Smart Search like the 9200 has, but I don't care for a blind a searching receiver with HD, started with a Pan300a years ago. if you want a great blind scanner receiver buy 1 that does a great job scanning, Satopia top dog here, Traixs is 2nd. an the SV8000 blind scan stinks misses a lot all the time, an will not tune a week feed like the pan9000 will, seen it a lot, an not talking S2 just qpsk. now the pan-9200 has a decent blind scan, but still will miss a lot an does it the best of all HD receiver, no S2 scanning, an still leaves a lot to be desired in scanning.
but on recording the SV is bullet proof.

simple answer NO it is not, the 9000 will lock an tune what the 9200 will not. ran them side by side on same dish, coming off same switcher, an the 9000 flat out performed it. when I 1st got a 9200 was very disapointed with its ability to tune a week signal in, an if you compare them on a HD week signal the 9200 with a Q of 38, will hold it or pixel a bit, now that same signal on a 9000 will be about 70 on Q (almost double) but the 9000 will hold it an not pixel till the Q drops under about 23 to 25 on Q.
The 9000 just has a better tunner in it by far, when the 9200 model was introduce they cut cost an the tunner was 1 of their $ savings.

ok THANKS EVERYONE FOR SOME INPUT BUT MY GENERAL QUESTIONS ARE STIL NOT BEING ANSWERED ?
there is nothing wrong with my hdmi cable because it works fine on other hd devices i have so i was wondering why it doesnt work audio or video when i try to plug it from my pansat to my tv ?
it seems that the 9000 hdmi output isnt or doesnt truly work which leads me back to my point that the 9000 isnt a true hd box ..?
?#1 so isnt it true for it to be a "true" hd box first of all you need to be pointing at dish hd sats which is in a different direction than 119/110
?#2 and to make this a true hd box you need to install a 8psk board into the box ? CAN A BOARD BE INSTALLED INTO THIS BOX THE 9000?

I THINK THAT A 9200you can buy with the board installed or the board can be installed into a 9200
so has anyone or any owner of a 9000 installed a board into this stb box?
i like the epg and scanning minus blind scan on a 9000 but im lookign to upgrade to true third party hd

id like to add that i am a subscriber (paid) of basic packages to dish but only the 119/110 therefore if i try there hd service out for a few months i might eliminate the need for me to install a secodn dish for hd which i think they will come out and do

no.
"true" hd fta means you can receive unencrypted hd channels.
it can and does.
for the most of these hd channels,you will need a large 10 foot dish.

no.
you can not in anyway,shape or form,modify the 9k unit to receive hd channels on echo birds(dn).

it can pick up hd channels on nimiq birds.however these channels are currently secured.

the 9k model is for true fta hd testers,and a few folks who didn't understand that this unit could and never will receive dn HD programming via 3rd party.
or for those who thought nimiq was good enough-kinda silly imho as their programming is not exactly spacial regardless if its hd or not lol.

i suggest you move on from "pansat" in general,unless you plan on using a very large C band dish.
otherwise,there are MUCH better choices.

So Captain I'll propose the same question to you as I did to Aboristman, I still have my 10' Winegard with H-H. Would my 9200 HD Pansat work better in this setup. The dish is a prime focus, what LNB would you recommend, I am in need of more stuff to test and play with.
