Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
Why is it that I would read about it on this site first? When I saw this the first thing I did was to check the home site and no posts there. I don't doubt the rumor, but just wondering why they are keeping it secret. Also I am a bit leery of this, I have a pro with dongle and support has been dead for it awhile now. And no sooner than I bought the ipro2k+ v2 is busted. So how solid is this next venture?

Some official from the team will post this info sooner or later. I just happened to be there when they announced this on live chat so I'm relaying the info. Pro with dongle support will be there, but not yet. The thing is that the Pro dongle works differently from the iPro.
Take all of this as a rumour for now if you insist

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
anything neosat IS ****ING POISON...being a neosat owner for 2 years already
i would not ADVISE purchasing anything even remotely related to Neosat or its development
most experience FTA officials on this board will vouch for what im saying right now....
this TEAM EKS is relatively unknown and are asking for a huge investment on a technology they built for a product that has ceased production and lost all support
not to mention has been completely unreliable even with its original coder V2.
i wouldnt touch that with a 10 foot pole....sheeeitt not even a 30 foot pole
people stick with nfusion or sonicview...and ride out this storm...dont be stupid!

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
Yes, this would be N3. To phillymantis this program is not from "noesat" and that the serail number when you bought your unit. will be why this unit works. So you really wouldn't be getting support from noesat but from someone else. The program/support just works with noesat units.
this is my understanding.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
As far as I am concerned the unit is trash, had a pro that never worked quite right super slow channel change and has not been supported forever. The second point is that Dr.T and V2Neo were coding at the same time,if V2 has been busted he is most likely going to cooperate before it is over. I would not spend another $5.00 on that unit much less a hundred. That did the EKS test and for some strange reason banished any talk of it after that, everyone said it worked great but have to agree with the other poster, paper trail from hell.

I agree, this is the same type of "Bull Crap" thats been issued before, any-one that would believe this hype, has never read anything about a neosat before. Take my word folks! They are broke and need to come up with some cash, and Im sure there will be a lot of people that will fork over the 100.00. Take your 100.00 and donate to a good cause or to your favorite site, you will get more satisfaction than listening to their crap!

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
sounds kinda fishy to me . nfusion Iks is free when you buy the unit. this new Eks for neosat wants to charge 100 bucks? for the first 150 , then 150 bucks after that to the rest of the people who have those units. what kind of support is that. ? im with rick on this one.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
Oh goodie,
Another HIKS style "its-just-around-the-corner-the-beta-test-is-on-the-verge-of-release" thread. Let me guess, 2 or 3 people have seen bev & DN wide-open and "beleive-me-it-it's-SWEET".
Now this has been going on since March. Not March of 09, but March of 08. Whenever the Neo has been wide-open the vast majority of time it has been through cardless solutions. Now someone wants to SELL eks support knowing full well that that, in effect, Neo purchasers have already paid for hiks support as part of the premium price that these units were sold for.
Now for marketing purposes for EKS, I would make the following suggestions:
1) DO NOT MAKE ANY SORT OF ANNOUCEMENT UNTIL YOUR PRODUCT IS READY FOR RELEASE!! The Neo has an awful rep, largely b/c of overblown pronouncements.
2) Neo customers have, in effect, paid for a $99 dongle. At best without iks, the iPro was & is a $120 stb with mainly poor support, and since we all know how well iks has worked out, it's a $120 box that was sold for a lot more. So have the new coder(s) issue a mea culpa about how bad the Neo has sucked. It doesn't matter that the new guys aren't at fault, but apologies go a long way toward good will (& sales).
3) $100 is way too much. $150 is fantasy land. All except people who are irrationally emotionally attached to their iPro babies would put the buck or buck & a half toward units with good history & solid reps.
4) Now for $25 (the price point I guess would peek iPro victims' consideration), there might be interest. I would guess that someone on this site has expertise in price vs demand marketing models in order to max out profits. I do know $100 is way out of reason.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
I realize the announcement is quite premature and of course I've been expecting the haters.
@bassist: no, not 2-3 people. There was an open EKS test long ago if you didn't already know. And if you'd bother to read my replies, you'd know that this is not a solution from Neosat themselves. They're not new guys from Neosat. They're not here to replace v2 and his IKS.
As for the pricing, I don't think they're expecting everybody to be paying for it. But trust me, there are people who will be more than happy to, once they've seen it in action. Do you even know how much some people are paying for card-sharing server?
@phillymantis: I'm milking the Neosat customers? Have you ever seen me trying to sell any Neosat box? Or anything to the Neosat owners?
Quote:

Why? Because the poor customers didn't get the TV channels that they never paid for?
@Ricksbeach, please close the thread. I'm done giving out info that just aren't appreciated.
One last thing I'll say though. EKS will happen whether you people like it or not. And it WILL work. Perhaps you won't pay the $100 for it, but maybe you will. Either way, I'll be the one with a working Neosat.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
Hey...so we all have been hurt with this puppy lying at our door useless. Unlike most of you I won't burn Itaintrite for being the bear of news. I think it's great there MIGHT be a future beyond the door for the NEO, I'd certainly be interested - but most definitely NOT at $100...worse $150. Maybe there might be an annual fee that's like $30 (and not a "lifetime fee") and for $30 bucks I'd gladly shell it out...and cnsdier it a bet on a racehorse that I might win...or lose:-)
Thanks Trite...don't be offended... we all been burnt bad...lots of hurt here.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
Sounds like good things to come with Neo.
Two sides to this coin -
1. There's no way a majority of Neosat owners are gonna shell out $100 or $150 for a sub to Neo's server, with a non-gaurantee that it's gonna work. I dunno about the rest of you, but I pay someone for a service and they don't provide me with that service, I go into "hunting" mode and I'm out for blood.
2. This will be a great step forward for Neo's destroyed reputation. I do agree that they've been extremely premature with their announcements. Poor marketing, along with impatient updates makes for big trouble...but coders typically aren't people persons.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
All i have to say on this subject is first: This stb (i know its not the same coders) has done nothing but disappoint for a while now.....And now you should pay.lol
Second: There are a couple of options these days that will not ask you to pay. Please, one time only fee.lol. What happens when that cash runs out, i could only imagine the excuses for getting more $ from the end user. Not to mention, this could be a very nice little $ trail on who is testing what.
I am not pushing one thing or another but i think this has a bad smell all over it.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
The idea of EKS with one lifetime payment is ridiculous.
1. $150 is too much. It is possible to buy a used nFusion Nova or Solaris for $120 and you will have the most stable IKS system for FREE. Or you can add another $50 and have Kbox, which has also good support now. Buy the way, it is possible to buy a Neosat for $50 on ebay now, which is normal price for the receiver without support, but 1 year ago it was around $200. It means that we already gave them a credit for $150 for IKS/HIKS, which has never been properly implemented and now they are asking for another $150.
2. Nobody knows how long EKS system will work. It may simply collapse after two-three month like previous IKS or HIKS.
I have no problem to pay around $5 monthly fee for reliable service if I have all channels that I need including international channels. It is normal practice for Europe and other countries where people pay small fee for using card-sharing servers, which are actually another type of IKS.
If EKS will be announced with lifetime fee it will be definitely scam. I am pretty sure that Neosat team cannot sell their units any more and they just found another way to get some money from existed customers.
But I do not think that people will believe them. Monthly fee is only one way that may encourage them to be stable.
The only one feature that I really like about Neosat is card-sharing. I did not test it by myself but people say it works. I am building now my own card-sharing server. Looks like it is only one way to get reliable service for those channels that you need.

Re: Breaking EKS News for Neosat iPro!
I am a TRUE FTA'er but is there much difference between paying SV a $100 USD or paying Neosat 3rd party group for the same end result?
I can understand if you do not own one of the models mention above but if you do I see it (Neosat) as a no brainer. The "new group, (not D1)" providing the service, has a proven track record.
Time will tell!
