Well even if they prove they have a great working system, that does not mean it is safe for the users that are willing to dole out the money. Sounds like a dangerous game they are playing with the end consumer to me even if they do prove it works before the user buys.
To me if they want to sell a product, first prove it works and second prove it is safe or at least reasonably safe for the end consumer.
