Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?

is there a serial code that we can use without having to purchase partition magic so I can format my Maxtor HDD...when I download it off this site, its only a demo, so it won't let me format unless I enter a serial code? any ideas...i don't want to spend money when more then likely im only gonna use this program once or twice

Worked in my coolsat, Works as EXT2 & 3 in linux just fine, Feel like I just threw away money here.

In the meantime, I will test with an external box and let you know. Either way, A Maxtor Drive is on the way.
Hey Guys, I got the Maxtor Onetouch4 250GB and works great after formating it with PM in EXT2. It also looks cool next to the STB!

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?

My computers won't recognize the 400GB My Book Essential..for some unknown reason. So I contacted WD online, have them send out a replacement drive. About 2 weeks later, the new drive arrives, pre-formatted in FAT32. I plug it into the receiver, click ok to format HDD and in less than 2 minutes, DONE..WOW! My new drive now is a WD My Book Essential 500GB PAN-AM, product ID WDH1U500N.

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?

I bought Western Digital 500 Gig "My Book." Best Buy had it on sale for $119.95. I went to Office Depot who had a $10 off coupon and matched the price; actually charged $119.00 plus tax.

I only plugged it in and the receiver formatted it with no problems.

Yeah, I luv the WD drives on a Neosat. Couldn't be any easier to setup. $119 is a pretty good deal for an external 500GB.

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?

For the life of me I cannot get this WD 500G My Book Essentials to work. I have formatted it EXT2 and EXT3 in PM, hook it up to the ipro 2000 and still no go. It sees a HDD but can't format it and doesn't give the size or anything. Drive works great with my CNX.

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?

Format your drive to FAT32, plug it back into the Neosat then format it to Linux. Or you can try unplug the the usb and power from the drive, unplug the usb from the receiver. Turn the receiver on, go to PVR, plug the usb cable and the power cord into the drive and plug the other end of the usb into the receiver, wait for it to initialize. If it shows the drive size then you're good. If it doesn't, format the drive with the receiver. Sometimes you need to unplug it and plug it in couple times. I had to do it with my Seagate FA 250GB. But with WD drives, it detects it the first time around.

I can confirm the above information.

After testing the HDD on 2 different units, I can confirm that the Lacie Porsche 250GB external drive will NOT work with the iPro2K+.

Anyone looking to purchase a drive for their iPro2K+ should stay away from that drive. Keep in mind though that the Lacie Prosche 500GB external drive has been tested and works fine.

Just an update for everyone.
