I cannot get my 32ogb hard drive to work after trying to format with the box. Does anyone know of an alternate way to make it format and work with the ipro2000

Section 3a……………Hard drive/PVR setup
Remember if you had any USB device plugged into the USB port to click the USB button on remote located in the (hidden compartment) to remove it “safely” prior to unplugging it. If you do not do this than you might have an issue using a new device.
If this is the first time you are pluggin in a hard drive Go to MENU->PVR->PVR SETUP-> HDD format and click OK. The format process can take from 5 seconds up to 3 minutes. After format is done you should see the total HDD size and the Free HDD Space. If your still having problems with your hard drive than use a partition utility such as partition magic to format the hard drive into Linux EXT2 format. you can also use gparted to accomplish this task. Torrent file for partition magic is located at ..... you will need a bit torrent client to download it.
If you have previously used this hard drive with ipro and you are Replugging it in than first off insure that you disconnected the previous device properly by clicking the USB button than just replug the hard drive in. To check if the installation went smoothly you can go to MENU->PVR->PVR SETUP if Total HDD size and Free HDD Space is displayed than you are ready to use your PVR. If it states on the right side “please wait while your hard drive is being initialized” than wait up to 3 minutes. If its not detected than try to power off/on your Unit from the back switch

Re: what brand HD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
i put partition magic and partioned the hard drive and such plugged into my neosat and it seems to recognize it but shows no hard drive size? I feel pretty confident with computers so I know that it is formatted right. Could there be a software conflict w1th the free agent external hard drive units and the ipro2000?

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
Hey guys. What type of External Hard Drive are you usng. I tried a USB Hard Drive Enclosure and used my 7 gig maxtor I use in my computer with fat32 to see how it works before I use my 160 gig segate. My VS Pro PVR after pluggig it in with power off had no front led and no infra red on the back. Dead even after unplugging the Hard Drive Enclosure and unplugging the VS it still came on dead. Soon after setting unpluged I tried again and it worked as usual. So guess I'am asking do you all use a Enclosure or another type Usb external hard drive<> thanks

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
I'm trying to use a western digital 250 external. I hooked it up and went to the hard drive setup. When I hit format hd, it asked for a password. Called wd, waited for twenty two days and finally got a non english speaking person and he said that the hd would not have a password. Does any one know if the iPro 2000 has or requires one?

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
There should be no PW. At most 0000 (Zero) would be it. Best things to do is download partition magic torrent and format the drive as Unix EXT 2
The drive will work without any more interventionfrom the STB

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
Hey Guys, stay away from the LaCie Porsche drives. I have two 250GB of those and none work with the Ipro, I have formatted in EXT2 & EXT3, primary, logical, etc. so many times that can't remember which disk is right now. I even exchanged the internal disks and formatted them via an IDE channel directly just in case, but nothing. If I use a Memory Stick it's identified by the Ipro without a problem.
In the meantime, I will test with an external box and let you know. Either way, A Maxtor Drive is on the way.

Ok Guys, I have confirmed it.....after trying multiple units (3 in total), none of the Lacie 250GB Porsche drives worked with the Ipro.
After the failed attempts, I removed the HD of these units (Samsung SP2514N & Seagate Barracuda 7200.8) and installed it in a cheap external box and worked perfectly. In summary, my advise is avoid the Lacie External Drives.

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
Iomega worked fine if formatted ex2 in PM, however if HD removed and connected to PC could not see files and then Neosat would no longer recognize HD. Yes I disconnected from USB properly.

Re: what brand HDD are you using with your neosat ipro 2k?
I thinking about a Neosat 2k pro and I have a few questions for you guys....
1. Are you using a hard drive enclosure with a standard ide hard drive? or are you using a external usd/fire wire hard drive?
2. Once you store data (video) on the attached hard drive can you view that data (video) from say a laptop or is it in some sort of format that only the 2k pro can retreive and play?
Thanks in advance and once again ABA rocks with tone of information because of guys like you's....

1. I have tried both those scenarios and they both work.
2. Yes you can view them on your laptop but you must have a program like explore2fs or EXT2_IFS to view the files because the files are in the Linux format and I assume your laptop is windows. Furthermore to copy to and use on a DVD you will need another program called Convert X to DVD. Oh yeah I forgot to mention before you can even use the Hard drive you have to format it Linux EXT2. This is most easily done with a program called Partition Magic.
