Re: report your pvr results here
Ok using WD 320 GB drive. Sees the drive fine. I notice that TimeShift doesn't start automatically. That would be nice. Also I am not sure with all the ECM's but it appears that when in TimeShift mode or Recording there is freezing.
Bummer. It seems that it is almost there. I noticed in earlier version of code it did not do this. Could be the extra processing with the extra ECMs not sure...

Re: report your pvr results here
Testing bin 2.72 on DN, PVR working on WD 320Gb Mybook Essentials. I noticed the same thing as Duder, if I change the channel it doesn't start time shift automatically, if I hit pause it seems to start from that point forward.
Verbage is kind of odd when you play something from the playback list (the confirmation says to click OK if you want to playback from last viewpoint, or Cancel to start from beginning, but the options are really "Yes" or "No") doesn't effect the functionality of the PVR but I was staring at the remote looking for the "Cancel" button

Re: report your pvr results here
Arbor, i think the PVR features of the Neosat can be improved a lot. I own two Captiveworks CW800s and like a lot of things in the Neosat:
- The 8-day EPG is awesome and works great! On the CW800s, we had to leave the receiver on certain channels to get 8-day EPG and even then many parts of the guide had no EPG info.
- The processor and speed is great. Although still some bugs to work out, FF and RW on the PVR are smooth.
Things I would like to see added to the Neosat:
- IKS support on 118.7 or 121. IKS is the ONLY reason I bought the Neosat. A lot of us watch the international channels and we need to get IKS up on these satellites.
- Fast forward to an arbitrary point in the stream. For example, if you have a long 4 hr football game recorded and want to watch just the end of the game, it would still take over 7 minutes of FF to get to the end of the stream using 32x FF on the neosat. On the CW800s, you hit F1, enter the duration in HHMMSS you want to fast forward and bam instantly you are there.
- NTFS support on the HDD. The newest CW firmware allows NTFS support and files up to 64GB in size!
- Change the MPEG2 stream to a standard DVD resolution. Currently Neosat outputs to 640x480 MPEG2 TRP files. Could probably use DVDPatcher in conjunction with an old version of TMPGEnc DVD Author to burn the TRP MPEG2 directly to DVD, but this is too much work! Conversely, using ConverttoDVD may take several hours of encoding. Ideal would be if Neosat could directly encode the MPEG2 as 720×480 or 704×480.
- When setting to record a program from the EPG, would be nice if the Neosat exited back to the EPG point we left off at instead of resetting to the current time. This way if there are multiple programs several days ahead, we don't have to find that point in the EPG again to set another timer.
- Since the Neosat has an Ethernet port, why not allow network access to the Neosat PVR files over the network, instead of having to physically move the USB HD to the PC? This would truly make the Neosat the must-have FTA box to have!

Re: report your pvr results here
I first tried a Seagate Sata2 320 GB which was in a USB external NexStar 3 case. It did not work. It said it was formatting the drive but could not indicate the capacity afterward and could not record. 2nd I tried a WD 400 GB IDE drive in a generic HD enclosure. The 400 GB drive formatted fine. Haven't done much recording yet so I can't comment on the quality.

Re: report your pvr results here
I was wondering that myself, Its formated in lynix, I cant even read the drive thru usb on a windows machine. So i spose it would have to run on a lynix machine .
Or on a windows machine that can run a lynix based program for reading the files. ?

Re: report your pvr results here
If I start recording on one channel, then change channels it still records the original channel fine but there are two issues.
1) I can only change to a very small subset of channels
2) The original channel can not be tuned back into without a cold boot
running 2.87

when starting a recording session manually, it will record but stops the session about 30 minutes into the recording, It will restart the recording, but its now in two parts.
seems to work fine, if you use the epg and auto record a program

Re: report your pvr results here
I am having some troubles with the PVR. I formatted it to Linux in the menu, then I try to pause live tv. It pauses, but then I can't unpause it. It gets stuck in pause mode. I end up having to do a hard reset to get functionality back. What is up with that? Then when I try to change the settings for how long it buffers from 90mins to 120mins. But it never saves the change, every time I go back into pvr settings, it is back to 90. I am using the 3.28 file, and I actually was having this issue with another Neosat, brought it back, exchange, so do you think this is the 3.28 file doing this? Beacuse I have tried the PVR with both a laptop external HDD and a standard external HDD and now 2 boxes. Either that, or they really suck butt at making pvrs.
At this point, I am really impressed with everything else with this box, but I am really really really dissapointed in the PVR part of it. I have had nothing but problems with it once I actually started to try and use it. But I have not used it on any other file than 3.28 so I don't know if this is just something with this file, or if the STB just sucks.

Re: report your pvr results here
I have used a Maxtor 250GB IDE Desktop Hard Drive, I also used a Western Digital 320GB IDE Desktop Hard Drive, I also used a Fujitsu 160GB SATA Laptop Hard Drive, and finally, I also used a Maxtor 120GB SATA Laptop Hard Drive. None of them work properly. I tried these 4 hard drives on 2 Neosat iPRO 2000 Plus units. When the first one didn't work for all 4 I brought it back and exchanged it for another saying the PVR isn't working. Well, second BRAND NEW UNIT does exact same thing.

Re: report your pvr results here
Using the wd 250 hd which has worked fine in the past. Have not used it with all of the confusion going on. Made sure the stb saw the hd, used the guide to find something to record, selected the record function, program underlined . showed record on the list but two tries, unit did not record. (?) any suggestions. thanks
