Using a memory stick with pro/ipro(Benifits and How to's)
This is a C&P from McLuvin
Here are benefits of using a memory stick with your ipro/pro receiver.
1.Epg-If you are not using an external hdd You can use your memory stick to store your EPG. This way you will have full 8 day epg for both providers and if you have to do a hard boot you will still have your EPG on stick without having to update again.
If not already set to get 8 day, go into menu-STB Setup-user setup-Hit bluebutton for advance-set EPG store level to all(dn)- this will update both for 8 day using mem stick.
To Manually update 8 day-go into menu-channel manager-update EPG-You will see attention message and ask if you want to continue-hit ok this will update your stick to 8 days.
2.User Data-This feature allows you to save your settings and channel info. This is a very nice feature incase you ever have to do a factory default, you will not have to settup or rescan again. It is also useful if you want to use with channel master or if you have more than one ipro/pros to duplicate settup on the other.
To use-Go into menu-instalation-user data manager-Highlight extract user data and hit ok and wait for completed message, this will save your current settup and channel info to mem stick.
To load your user data go into menu instalation-user data manager-Highlight Update user data and hit ok-wait for it to load and it will automatically reboot with your settup.
3.Neosat softcam-This comes in handy if AR is down or you dont like waiting for keys to roll or inputting them in manually.
Once you downloaded a neosoftam it can be reused and updated by editing it with notepad(right click and open with notepad)then c/p new keys over ones that changed and save.
To update your ipro/pro-Hit F3 on remote-Hit blue Button To update by USB.
4.Updating files using USB-This is a good way to update software on your ipr/pro if the server is down or you dont have your receiver hooked up to network.
Download latest hzf file-move to your usb stick-with ipro/pro on insert mem stick you should get a popup message to update new software. If loading an older version or it doesent prompt you.go into menu-installation-upgrade by usb-highlight the version you want to update to and hit ok.
Note: Do Not ever turn off power while updating your receiver! When it is done updating it will tell you it is complete and to reboot hit ok.
Also important when removing any usb device, Always go into menu-STB setup-USB setup-Highlight Remove USB device safely and hit ok-wait while it is updating-when it says no device it is now safe to remove.
Thanks McLuvin

Maaaaaaaaaan, saving EPG to memory stick. That'd be sweet! The one I hate about my CW800 is that it resets EPG at 8pm every night

Re: Using a memory stick with pro/ipro(Benifits and How to's)
one problem with it though.
when you load the epg to it,scrolling through becomes painfully slow.
i don't think most use it because of this bug.(or simply can't read it fast enough)
cool, but perhaps a feature best suited for SATA drives in the future.(or possible usb 3.0)
or perhaps it is in fact a code issue.
now if they made an epg editor where you could open and alter the epg info,it would be a VERY nice tool for true fta where there is no info.you could fill in whats on for most of the week which would be cool via the online guides for the channels.

Is it not possible to load the EPG back from memory stick? That way you don't have to repopulate EPG everytime you do a hard reset.

right.that's how it works.
and it does this perfectly well.8 days for both providers.
factory default even, and when you go back to epg,she is there instantly.
whats slow is not actually loading it for the first time.(about 10 mins)
but with no epg info in the neo's ram,it has to access the info from the stick.
when you scroll down,to look at other channels its boggy.
