updating via rs232 for those with usb problems
i went without t.v for 2 weeks, first due to freezing, then due to the usb freezing problem. i messed around with my computer & box, & found that you can still load via the rs232 cable, that came with your receiver. You will need to download the ipro loader tool from abadss site. Then follow the directions on the loader.
1-create a folder to save your new down loads to.
2-download the newest bin file from this site, & save to the new folder
3-click on port (usually 1 or 2, mine was 1)
4-click the middle section to select the file that you just down loaded. (make sure the file is hzf form & unzipped. You may need to download a/an unzipping tool. Get one at typhoontools.com
5-turn off receiver from the back rocker switch
6-hit upgrade software
7-turn rocker switch back on (your upgrade should start imediately if you have the right hzf file, after you switch it back on)
8-after receiver displays good, turn it off unhook it from the computer, & hook it back up to your t.v.
9-DON'T FORGET to do a factory default & go through the set up process after you turn it back on.

well, you just need to unhook the unit from tv/sat feed,so you can take it to your pc that's all buddy.
if your pc is close enough, you can simply connect the cable to your receiver without unhooking anything if you want too.
otherwise you need to get it to your pc to update, that's all.
so naturally if you had to do that, you will want to connect it back.
p.s. the most important thing to beware of when updating the ipro with the cable/loader is to NOT select boot update!!!! you will kill the stb.
make sure to select software update.

Re: updating via rs232 for those with usb problems
here's a little tool that will help you find your com port.
if this tool doesn't show you an active open working com port.
you know you need to fix that in your OS before you even start messing with your ipro loader.
very easy, quick and basic.then you know what com port to use with your loader too:
