Re: Help Needed
As Mighty Thor says and also, did you format the USB flash drive before you used it?
Hope this helps.

Re: Help Needed
Having a similar problem, but I've renamed the file to _sw_code.sgn, the receiver detects it, but says it's an incorrect version.
Is there any difference between the 8100HD bins and will they work with the 8100HD micro-PRV? Not sure if there is a standard 8100HD and another one called micro-PVR, but I just cannot get this **** thing to take the factory update. I'm feeling defeated here and I refuse to let a machine beat me ****it!

I will try to help if possible. You do not need to rename the file. A month or so ago the programers changed it so you no longer need to rename the file. I would download the newest file and extract it (unzip it) and copy that file to your usb flash stick. Put the flash stick into your cs 8100 and load the file to the receiver. Let it reboot and after it does, do a hard reboot ( turn unit off at the back wait a few minutes then turn it back on) Once that is done you will need to wait until it auto rolls which can sometimes take a long time ( 20 minutes or so) but it could do it right away. This should give you your channels.
The CS8100HD and the CS8100HD micro-PRV are the same unit. Coolsat only makes one 8100
Hope this helps.

Tduke told it correctly, just do what he said.
But remember this & maybe it will help some.
The bin files come as a "zip" or "rar" format.
You must extract the files prior to use.
But after you do this the file name will change to an "ird" format...which is the format the receiver/loader must have to work.
Just observe what it says along the way to be sure you are correct.

Re: Help Needed
Thanks guys... already done all of that. File is extracted from the zip, it's a .sgn, I tried renaming it. But everytime I attempt to load it, the receiver says it's the wrong version. The file I have is for the 8100HD. I have an 8100HD MicroPVR so I assume they are the same thing. Not sure why it thinks it's the wrong version. It should be a very simple and painless process but out of the 3 sgn files I have tried, the receiver acts the same way each time.
If the PVR wasn't so buggy on my unit, I wouldn't even bother, but right now the PVR isn't even worth using. I'm hoping that if I can get this sucker upgraded that the PVR will play back recorded shows correctly.
I will try a few more times and see what I can come up with.

I would suggest resetting to factory default. Then loading the clear file then load the factory file, then the newest bin file. That should clear everything out of memory and you should be able to load the new bin file.
I will also mention that the new bin does nothing for the PVR part of the 8100. My 8100 has had troubles since day one and has work better lately but not 100% yet. The fixes primarily takes care of freezing and black outs.
Hope this helps

I have not tested the HD model, so not for sure, but all other CS models convert the zip or rar to a "ird" file to work in the receiver & loader.
So, if I'm right, the problem is your trying to use an sgn file.
You can't rename a file & make it work.
It must be done with supporting software.
Just google ird & see if you can find a free download to convert files to ird. (just ask the question on google)

When I unzip the file it is a ****.sgn file. I copy it to a USB flash stick and it works 100% with my cs8100 HD box. I have never had a problem with a file yet. The only thing I can think of is has the USB flash stick been formated? He might try loading with the loader instead of the USB flash stick. Just some ideas that can be tried.
Hope this helps.

quite awhile back the pvr issue was fixed with one of the new bins and has worked perfect for me. has been a few months with not one problem with record or playback. i use a lacie 500gb hdd or 160gb lacie and even numerous 8gb sticks and all work perfect. now theres only that support thing. its a great true fta receiver.
