Remote won't Control Receiver
All of a sudden, my remote stopped controlling my receiver. I am able to control the receiver from the front panel but I can't control it with the remote. I also use a universal remote and it also has lost the ability to control the receiver.
As the problem does not seem to be with the remote, is it possible the problem is with the remote sensor on the receiver? It seems strange that it has worked fine for approximately 2 years until now.
I remember reading about a fix for the sensor which involved doing something to relieve the stress on the wiring that connects to the sensor.
Does anybody have any suggestions how to fix my problem?

Re: Remote won't Control Receiver
try pressing the stb button on the remote and see if that brings it back

Re: Remote won't Control Receiver
first try the batteries, then press the "stb" button, make sure nothing is blocking your sensor, a glass door will sometimes affect the remote.

Re: Remote won't Control Receiver
Thanks for the suggestions but I did check the batteries and I made sure the STB button was pushed. There's nothing in the way of the receiver. It was working fine one second and suddenly it stopped responding to the remote. Since both of my remotes stopped working, I suspect the problem is with the sensor on the receiver and not with the remotes.

Re: Remote won't Control Receiver
Im afraid I dont know a fix for a remote sensor, try entering some keywords in the search in the yellow bar and see what you get.
can you try your remote on a friends to see for sure that is the problem?

Re: Remote won't Control Receiver
One of my buddies had a problem with an early 800 STB and the remote. He did some looking and it was the sensor inside the STB. He had to open it up and re-solder the sensor back in place I think. I have a newer 800 and haven't had any problems.
