Dead CW-800S ?
Hello Abadss community!
I have a CW-800S that is dead, presumably.. both the green and red lights turn on and stay on when the box is powered up.. both the TV and the lcd on the box are blank..
As this belongs to a friend of mine, I have no idea how the box reached to this stage. I have read the CW800 clone sticky, and according to the indications this box is not a clone.
I have tried to load up the factory bin using the serial cable, but that didn't work. Any pointers/help would be greatly appreciated as always..
thank you guys

Re: Dead CW-800S ?
Did you put the stb in boot mode before you tried loading the factory file with the rs232 cable?

Re: Dead CW-800S ?
yes, I did that by holding the power button when switching the unit on from the back side..
But as I mentioned earlier, I have no way to confirm if it went into the Boot mode as the LCD display on the unit is completely blank and doesn't show any thing.. the only way i can tell that the unit is powered up is from the green and red leds that lit up and stay up after its turned on.

Re: Dead CW-800S ?
If you press the Menu button will it go into the Menu?
If not, then you will need to load the Factory file. Use the USB port with the Thumb drive to load the file.

Re: Dead CW-800S ?
thank you painterguy and vgiddy..
As I said, the box doesn't show anything on the TV.. There is a no signal message on the TV even when the box is turned on..
I'll try to load the bin with the USB and report the results.. meanwhile any other suggestions are welcomed..

Re: Dead CW-800S ?
Are you using a usb to rs232 adapter? If you are you need to install the driver that came with it. You can also try to force load it. Have the factory file in the loader & the rs232 cable hooked up to your stb with the switch off on the back. Have your cursor on the start button & turn the switch on on the stb, as soon as you see the power light come on hit start on the loader. This could take several times & timing is everything but I have heard that this will work sometimes.

Thank You PainterGuy and VGiddy for your help. I ditched the receiver as I couldn't fix it.
