Unhappy Big Problems with CW800S -

This is my first post - but I have read almost everything on the site about CW.

I DID have DirectTV in Nicaragua - but they cancelled and went to SKY. It S--Ks. I own the 30" dish. I replaced the LNB and bought a CW800S from USA. I am trying to set it up for the first time - but I keep getting 20-40 Signal on Antenna ??

Please help with the uploads. I have tried CW800SV1.83_2008_08_14.bin and CW800SV1.90_2008_09_29.bin. I have also loaded CW Channel List ( 119-110-91-82 ). All worked fine (and I will get rid of 91-82 Channel List later) and the bins rebooted just fine.

How about the SW and Loader? Are they ok?

Diseqc Switch: LNB3 - connected to Circular Polarization
Legacy SW : Off
Motor: None

I Did the following - but for an 800:
01. Download latest .bin file for CW700 (CW800SV1.83_2008_08_14.bin and CW800SV1.90_2008_09_29.bin)
02. Unzip file onto your USB memory stick
03. Insert USB stick into the CW700
04. On your TV you should see displayed “USB Ready”
05. There are 2 ways to navigate to the update screen. On your remote, you can either
press Menu>USB or simply press the USB button on the remote
06. You should see the contents of your USB memory stick on the right hand side of your screen
07. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select the desired .bin file
08. Press OK. Answer yes to “Update the software database”
09. You should now see a countdown on your front panel LED
10. When update finishes, answer yes to “Reboot receiver now?” You can now remove the USB stick.
11. If this is not your first software update, then you need only do steps 1-10
12. If this is the initial software update, do a factory default (menu>installation>Factory default>no>yes)
13. Enter language settings, set time (for Eastern Standard Time, select -5 hours) and scan channels.
14. Do your settings (menu> system settings>system>channel No.>select SID, auto TP to
on, and long channel names to on) (menu>system settings>osd>autoroll to on)
15. Set your antenna settings and use the red key to scan. Select FTA ONLY to NO and press OK to begin scan.
16. When scanning is completed exit completely until you are back at T.V. displaying scrambled channel.
17. Now enable patch (press F1 then 000) you should see (“patch enable” on t.v screen)Press OK.
18.Wait for keys to roll and watch T.V (Note: if you still see scramble channel after the keys update turn off your receiver
from the back wait 10 seconds and turn back on . [Channel DN 200 for cnn]
I am getting around 25 signal for 110 and 119! I even played with the signal boost >>! from 25 to 30. No effect.

I have disconnected the wire at the LNB and at the DiSEqC and the signal goes to zero. (This tells me that the cable, CW800, DiSEqC and LNB are OK) I have moved the dish E-W with radios to the inside TV and my wife says that is stays at around 25. I have changed the elevation several times - stays at 25. (I know that DN (119) works here in Nicaragua as many of my friends use it - so the footprint is OK). I am using an angle finder with a magnet and a compass. I have even measured some of my friends dishes and the numbers agree.

I disconnected the DiSEqC and ran directly to the Circular Port. No Effect.
I have powered down - disconnected the coax - Hard reboot - connected the coax - Still 20-40. No Effect.

I am at my wits end. Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance - Schon55

Re: Big Problems with CW800S -

you said that you have it hooked to lnb3
try hooking it to the 1st port on the left if you are standing behind the dish looking at the lnb

Re: Big Problems with CW800S -

It is the first port on the left of the LNB looking from the rear of the dish. I will check the Disq switch for its numbers - I though it was #3.

3 2
1 OUT 4

This makes me wonder - do the DiSEqC # have to agree with the LNB # ??? Like 1 to 1, 2 to 2, ect ??

Re: Big Problems with CW800S -

I disconnected the DiSEqC and ran directly to the Circular Port. (First on left from the back if the dish) DiSEqC to off in Antenna Tuning. Signal went up 2-4 - but still not 55 (I read somewhere that that is the minimum to get a signal)

No Motor.

Thanks for the response !!!!
