Help with Anik-F3 118.7W
Hello, I have been trying to get signals from Anik-F3 for a couple of days now. However, maybe there is something wrong with my set-up. So far, I am not getting anything. I hope someone can help me solving this puzzle.
I list my equipment here.
STB: CW-700S
Dish: GEOSAT Pro 90cm (36")
LNB: ROC CST118 circular Input 11.7~12.75GHz
My dish is pointed to DN 119 bird. The signals are good from 119. Strength is often 80% or higher, and quality is over 90% for most TP's.
But I can't say it's the same for Anik-F3. For Anik-F3 TP's, my signal strengths are between 50% to 70%, and quality level is always 0%.
On STB, I set LNB Freq to LO 10750, and LNB type to normal. I think
my settings are correct, so it's puzzling me.
As for TP's, I am just interested in Chinese channels, so I edited the TP
listing to just TP's 1,3,6,19,24,25. From Lynsat and ABADSS, I found
two different TP settings. I tried both settings and neither one works for
me.
Lynsat:
TP1 11715 V 20000 7/8
TP3 11745 V 20000 7/8
TP6 11789 H 20000 7/8
TP19 11989 V 20000 3/4
TP24 12063 H 20000 7/8
TP25 12081 V 20000 7/8
ABA:
TP1 11715 V 20000 3/4
TP3 11745 V 20000 3/4
TP6 11789 V 20000 3/4
TP19 11989 V 20000 3/4
TP24 ?
TP25 12081 V 20000 3/4
I also tried to set FEC to Auto, and it didn't work as well.
I am now suspecting the problem is due to dish's signal focal length, which may be shorter than where the head/tip of LNB is. But I already tried to move LNB back-and-forth, and there is not much difference. (Difference is only about 3% in signal level.)
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance for sharing and helps.

Re: Help with Anik-F3 118.7W
Thanks for your reply. Can you elaborate on that? You mean that STB would tell you whether it found Anik? I am a little lost. I do clearly see signal strength levels with these settings. I am assuming the signals identified are from Anik. However, I'm fairly new with this, and I am not sure.

Re: Help with Anik-F3 118.7W
Hahaha... Thanks for your great pointer, bigevil69!! I owe you much. For some reason, I didn't notice it before.... My STB says it found EchoSt*r 6,8 (110W). So although I thought that I had 119 bird while looking at 119 menu, my signals were actually coming from 110 bird. I think you've resolved this for me. I'll readjust to get the 119 bird. However, it's over 90F out there now... I'll need to wait for the temp to cool down a bit to go out. Wouldn't want to pass-out out there if I've to stay out for long.
Thanks a lot!!

Re: Help with Anik-F3 118.7W
Hi, sorry for my late update. I was busy for a few days and didn't get to work on it. Yes, now I am able to lock on both 119 and 118.7 birds. I am able to get excellent signals from 119 bird, and relatively good signals from 118.7 bird. However, now I am running into another issue. I will start a new thread to ask my question.
Thanks a lot!
