vtv4 help on 97W
hello can someone help me re-capture this bird?
setup:
36" dish
single lnb: freq 10.750 22,000H
straight connection from lnb to receiver

coolsat5000 receiver
i have marks to where dish was pointed previously where i caught the bird. i live in FL and the winds just been brutal on the dish moving it, causing me to lose the channel.
what i'm doing now is moving the dish slightly to the left and right around the area that i made marks but the signal strength does not change at all regardless of where I move the dish, even in the wrong direction. and the quality does not move. i'm guessing a broken Lnb? anyway to test that theory?

Re: vtv4 help on 97W
Random molecular noise will register S70-80 Q0 from a typical LNB aimed at anything other than space. A cursory check of the LNB can be done by turning the LNB power off in the installation menu to see if the S disappears.
Since your problem resulted from a storm, make sure the cables and connectors are not waterlogged.

Re: vtv4 help on 97W
i'm having no luck gettin any kind of quality at all. stays around 2-6% and signal strength stays at 92%. i'm pretty sure the dish is pointed in the right direction because i've got the channel before and made marks on the dish. I'm using elevation of 56*.

all cables work because i used the same cable to run on my other dish which is pointed at a certain bird which i do not want to disclose but the quality strength is 92%, so i know the cable is not waterlogged and i'm running a direct connection from lnb to receiver. tried to turn off Lnb power and the signal drops to 0%.

Re: vtv4 help on 97W
OK, the cable is good and there is no switch to mess with. Is the mast still plumb, or could the wind have tilted it? I would test reception integrity by aiming for the easy sat at 91W. Mark the mast and turn the dish 3-4 mm from the mark to find 95W which is easier to find than 97W. Of course the elevation will need to be adjusted. Mark the mast and turn the dish 1-2mm for 97W. A $10 sat meter really does help in finding weak sats like Galaxy25.
