Newbie! FTA in Middleast
So I am a newbie and I posted a similar question in the Intro Forum, However didnt get a valid reply since, i guess, it was not in the right question. So i will try to make it as logical as possible by explaining my situation first:
I live in dubai.
I live in a building that already has a Dish Installed.
I have a old bumped up reciver and I can say that I am catching Hotbird, Nilesat, and Arabsat.
I had a sat guy come and sell me a reciever, he basically told me that i can install updates from the web and can view showtime for free. Well i saw the demo and it worked but i was a little skeptical at that time.
So below are my questions:
Which reciver should I get.
How do i program it to get channels like ZEE, Star, Showtime.
Any advice would be well apprecaited.

Re: Newbie! FTA in Middleast
im most positive there are no clones of cnx the manufacture is conaxsat. these receivers a hardly down that i hear of.. im not familiar with your satellites to plug in the bins you will need a bin loader and hook the box up to a computer or be able to download by usb flash drive

Re: Newbie! FTA in Middleast
Thanks so i will do more research for cnx and what bins are. I think i will prefer a USB loading rather then cable loading.
BTW, can i go to Lyungsat.com and get the info?

Re: Newbie! FTA in Middleast
Hey Oscar, if you need a real simple receiver with good support, you can try the Viewsat Ultra. As for getting showtime and Zee Tv, you may have to look up the dish positioning for your location, if your dish is not already pointing to those sats. You then have to set your dish and LNB settings etc. Then scan yourr sats.If you post your settings there is lots of help here but you have to upgrade to VIP staus to download the latest files for your receiver.Like I said try the VS Ultra it,s very user friendly. Good luck.

Did you get Zee TV up and running? Also do we get these receivers at Dubai? If so where?
