do i have to buy another router or can i use my dsl modem to run the dongle for my mini.i heard it might be safeer to go wireless? thanks in advance.

Definitely safer to go wireless, but only when your hooked up to your neighbor. lol.

Just kidding, I don't think it matters, I'm running off a linksys wireless router and if the dongle would work I'd be good, but thats another story. You can hook it up any way you want, the results will be the same.

Related to some extent re mini dongle. For those that are connected, should the IP address from the PC (i.e. .....2) match what is in the stats of the IP Network settings of the receiver. In my case I am showing .......3, should I manually change it?? Any help would be appreciated.

Leaf,

I don't think it matters. In my case the ip address, gateway, and dns are the same. The only one different is the subnet mask. Is this what yours shows?

If so, then the next step is to wait until the server connects, and all I can say to that is GOOD LUCK. lol

i was thinking about buying an IX-200 dongle but i cant find any setup instructions to look at.i am older then dirt so my brain dont work as good as it when i was a young pup.thanks for the replys.

instructions? its pretty much plug and play. ethernet cable into one end, rs-232 into other and rs-232 into the receiver. the ix-200 dongle includes the power supply input needed for the mini so you may want to ask about the power supply when you decide to buy the dongle. all the software is downloadable from this web site.
